Hi I looking for a 3-d/hunting/general target bow. I shot a couple tournaments this summer. I have two bows now a pse thunderbolt 50-60 Lbs and a Champion hurricane 60-70lbs. I'am thinking about something in the mathews or hoyt area. I'am very open to other companies like bowtech etc. Right now I think either mathews q2xl or legacy. I don't know much about hoyt. I don't even have the prices of there bows (none listed anywhere on the net) so hoyt product in the q2xl range are what looking for. Also any 3-d shooters your in put on bows would be awsome! same with sights rest etc thank you

For 3-d and hunting I would suggest going with the q2xl over the legacy.It just has some more accurate qualities about it.Like a-a and the reflex is less.Not saying the Legacy isn't accurate but the XL should be a bit more forgiving.imo.



My favorite would be the Hoyt Ultratec,38" a-a and a 7" brace along with a 1 1/2" reflex(I think).A dream handle and is truly a sweet bow.I have a 2001 model and the 2002 is even better.It also has good speed but most do.


The prices are about the same at most places.Just hold the 2 and if you can,try shooting them.It is really hard to see how a bow will perform at 40 yards when all you get is a 20 yard shot but the feel should tell you something.

I've won a lot of tournaments with just my hunting setup. It depends on what you really want in a bow. Which sport do you want to be most efficient at, 3D or hunting. You certainly can shoot 3D with a hunting bow but the bow might not be the best it can be for 3D. You can hunt with a great 3D bow, but it might be a tad clumsy in the woods. What I'm getting at is for 3D you want a bow that is longer in the axle to axle configuration but still offers good brace height and still offers adequate speed. You can manipulate this with light arrows, possibly too light for hunting. I personally don't like the "in crowd" with short axle to axle bows for either hunting or 3D. I like a mid range bow that offers both the forgiveness for 3D and the ability to keep it out of a treestand. The only difference today between my hunting rig and my 3D rig is changing sights. For 3D I throw on a Tox sight with Boss Scope and clearifying lens, and for hunting the Hoyt Micro Elite with fiber pins.

Now my bows usually stay in the 36" axle to axle range. Not too short for 3D in my eyes and not to long and cumbersome for hunting. That is why I chose the Hoyt VorTec, that and just shooting it.

My former bows were Hoyt Defiant, 38"...Hoyt Tenacity II, 36"....Hoyt Tenacity, 36"......

The Hoyt CyberTec offers the same configuration as your starting to see a pattern of.

BowTech also offers a bow in the 35" and 38" configuration that would make a worthy 3D and Hunting bow.

In the Mathews line, the Q2XL would probably make a better dual purpose bow over the Legacy, IMO.

Again, 3D...long axle to axle, adequate brace height..

AND, Hunting....moderate axle to axle, adequate brace height.

You can change arrows between hunting and 3D with the same bow.
