Default Instinctive shooters

How many instinctive shooters are here? I have shot instinctive since I have shot a bow. Tried sites, but changed back. I did however go to a release about five years ago when the shorter bows came out. Just curious , and starting a post to see what you all do.

I shoot instinctive/gap on my longbow. Really, I think that the two are intertwined somewhat anyway.

I shoot instinctive on a bare compound with fingers. I started that way because I wanted to. I'm fairly accurate out to 40 yards if I practice enough. Inside of 30 I'm right on. I wouldn't compete with X shooters but deadly just the same. When I first started I practiced a lot. I could make a smilie face with my arrows at 25 yards and hit a swinging 2" target at 17 yards. Since getting married and having kids I don't practice as much year round as I did, but I can pick up the bow in August and still hit the bullseye at 25 yards first try, if I concentrate. For me it's usually more a matter of building up my muscles and form than getting the feel back.

Odd ,
I started out learning on a bow that had sights ,
but I found them distracting and stayed with instinctive . I hit more consistantly when I'm focused totally on the target rather than focusing on the bow too . After making the choice of instinctive I bought a recurve and never looked back .

I have been shooting instinctive for a while now. I had always shot a recurve for years and then I thought I would try a compound with sights a few years ago. I never was very accurate with them so I pulled the sights off and now it is just so much more fun.

It's the best if you can do it.
