Jerseyjoe, I saw a couple with spots in the evening. That was big of you to let the mom walk. I know a lot of guys would have just popped her and let the little one fend for itself.

BTW-I had my Cardeer necklace with me for the hunts. The necklace strikes again!

Congrats on the first deer this year for you!

Way to go on using your head and playing it smartly in recovering her to!

Great stroy,

Way to give the animal time before jumping on the trail. Good luck with the black buck. Gee, isn't that an African animal? ha ha

Schmalts, Cardeer is one of the members on this board. He has a necklace that he makes that is a good luck charm. He was nice enough to make one for myself and some other board members. It's done the trick so far. Now if it can get me a crack at that black buck.

NJ Hunter also:
1st day out and I woke up an hour late (!#@*&)
Slapped on my gear and walked out to my stand while sun was starting to rise.
Spooked 4-6 does/fawns got to see the tails bouncing across the field (#(**#!!)
Climbed into my perm and sat for about 1 hour.
6 pointer with velvet walks by nice and slow broadside. Too bad NJ is earn-a-buck
(@@^%@^%!*)
3 pointer walks by messing with the 6 pointer a little.
4-5 does surround my stand checking me out. I froze for about 20 min before they meandered 40 yrds away. Couldn't grab my bow.
(#*@#^@!)
3 Does walked in from my left and I tagged the lead doe as she turned (quarter away shot).
Clipped the femeral artery and minced the liver with my revolution-100 mechs. Recovered the deer about 40 yrds from the initial hit.
Something weird happened though. The Beman ICS Hunter Carbon arrow snapped on impact prior to the deer jumping to run. The last 8 inches of the shaft snapped off and landed where the doe was hit.
The front part ripped through the middle of the deer the length of the body and embedded itself into the inside of her left fron shoulder. No markes on the head. Usually I will see nicks from bone hits.

I have not shot an animal with these arrows in the Q2 bow that I just got. The bow is strung to 70-75 lbs and packs a punch that exceeds my previous bow. I wonder if the arrows are weaker???
The doe did not run immediately after she was hit.

Any ideas??
I will be hunting with ACC 3-60's on sat. Hopefully I will get up a little earlier this time.
