Go to your local Pro Shop and have them fit you with one.

Too many variables................You need to ask some people in your area that bowhunt who is the most reputable pro shop around. They can hook you up from there. BUT, don't be fooled into thinking you MUST have the most expensive bow in the shop. For beginners, I would pick something in the middle. Not top end, and not junk. Somewhere in the $300-400 range.

Double Creek gave some good advice. The way I went about it is a bought a used Hoyt and went from there. I went through a few different type rest and releases and now its time to buy a NEW bow!! Ho-raay for me! I now know what I like. I had my other bow for 5 years and its time to retire it! Don't let anyone talk you into something you don't need either, take your time and shoot a bunch of different bows. Whats a good bow for one might not be good for someone else. This time of year you can get a good deal on a excellent used bow! Good luck!!!!!!

Excellent advise from all. The biggest thing is to shoot a bunch of different makes and models and find what fits you the best and what feels right. You can buy a real decent bow for $300.00-$400.00. Once you find the right one it's PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Good luck and keep us posted.

I agree. You should go to your local pro shop. There are a lot of different factors involoved. Some bows might not fit your style of shooting.

Just as i shoot stuff says mathews sucks, so will people tell you whats good or not. If I were you I would go to an archery shop. Ask the people to let you test shoot bows in your price range. Pick the one YOU like best. Welcome to archery!
