It's all apples and oranges. The brand of bow you shoot is only as good as the person holding it makes it.

I do remember them (high country), didn't they make one called the Grand Teton about 13 or 14 years ago? I remember reading about it and wishing I could buy one. My current bow at that time was a Golden Eagle Formula 3-D and it was only a year or two old. I was a teenager and my parents didn't approve of me buying a new bow or understand the need for two bows. I am 30 will be 31 in july, and they still don't understand that need. My dad tried to archery hunt for awhile and didn't like and sold his bow, he is a rifle hunter at heart. When I told them I was buying a new bow this year, I still got a lecture about how I just purchased a new bow about 7 years ago. And how we know a friend that is still shooting his same bow from almost 20 years ago. I love my dad but he doesn't have a clue when it comes to archery.

I just started bowhunting in 2004. I bought a mid range Parker Hunter Mag outfitter from Gander Mountain. I practiced with it from Dec. 03 till opener Sept. 04 and through the season. I shot a nice 140lb doe with it went 30yds. This bow (average run of the mill) did everything I needed it to do and more. I sold it on ebay about a month ago and went to my local pro shop and shot Mathews top of the line Outback and Switchback. I fell in love with the Switchback and bought it on the spot. Yes, I know big bucks. Here's what I don't understand. If a person is willing to spend money to the absolute end of the earth on having the quote un quote best in its field, then why is that person wrong? It's something that he or she wants and is willing to spend it......so be it. There's nothing wrong with any and I mean ANY bow, rest, sight, arrows,release, etc. The bottom line is if the person loves to bow hunt, whether it be with a PSE Phaser 2000 (my first bow), or a cadillac mathews, what's the big deal. I think alot of the hyping of bows is all poking fun in this forum. Hunting is hunting the bow is up to you.

I don't know anything anymore about high country. I bought the bow probably 6 years ago, and it still shoots great! So that is all I am concerned with!

I really don't feel like I see "this brand is so much better than that brand!" very often. Yeah, there is some good natured ribbing, but it seems like most people have sense enough to know that one brand isn't necessarily better than another. Now maybe I prefer an Allegiance over a Switchback, but I'm not saying Bowtech is better than Mathews...some things just go without saying [:-]

With that said, my Bowtech shoots better than my last PSE, as well it should...it cost me wayyy more. It's only natural for someone to spend $700 on a bow they feel is compeltly awesome, and then shoot a friends bow and realize there isn't THAT much difference. Sure the $700 will probably be a bit smoother, quieter, and faster, but is that really worth the extra $300?? Depends on who you are and what you want out of shooting I suppose.

Stone I don't think that there is anything wrong at all with thinking you have the best equipment on the markert. I just think it funney when 2 or more people go at it when they all own top of the line equipment equal equipment. I guess it goes along the same lines of beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I myself like the Mathews Switchback the best out of all the new top of line bows that I have shot this year. But I also admit that the BowTech came in a very close 2nd in my book. I dont' find fault in anyone who places BowTech or any other brand above a Mathews. I agree with others that being a good bowhunter comes from the heart not the equipment. Bow hunting equipment is only the tool to get the job done. What tool the hunter chooses for the job is and should be their preference, and it is not a right or wrong choice.

I shoot Oneida. You KNOW how much crap I get when I go to the range, but I just laugh when I see someone let there bow down and their arm gets tore off. I am very defending of my bow brand, but I dont think I have ever said that Oneida is BETTER than Mathews or Bowtech or them Darton knock-offs ;) (hoyt).

Ya know...u are 100% right...I am a dicks sporting goods employee...(in the lodge) and every body comes in asking about the new bows... and i tell them...every bow is good, i don't care if its a mathews or pse or a browning...the bow that is great is the one that feels good to you...mine just happened to be a hoyt...does that make it the best bow in the world? no! so i give them the choice to shoot as many bows as we have in stock to see which one they like...

i myself just bought a new bow. I have not bought a bow in like 10 years and let me tell ya im still having trouble parting ways with my old one. Im so use to it and i have killed so many deer with it that i have a bond with it. I will tell u this i have a hunting buddy who buys all the top of the line crap and his bow does not kill deer any quicker than my old bow he use to always make fun of me. But who has the most kills????Me so it depends on the situation.

It's good to see so many agree with you. I think the issue goes much deeper than just archery equipment. It's like a nerve (not a good one in my opinion) that all people have. That nerve has been struck to get people to do things since the beginning of time. I also think there is only one remedy, a genuine desire to be happy for other people. The ability to pat someone on the back and say "Well done" without any negative feelings creeping in. The more we realize that were being pulled like puppets on a string and cut them the better all of us will be. The dollar speaks very loudly, if you get my drift. On a personal note my screen name is nodog because I am no dog to be led around by the leash in my pants. I will not buy anything from anyone that tries to pull on that leash. Setting a product between some cleavage is a sure way to never see me again. I maybe a slobbering fool but I have my limitations:D
