I AM SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!
I was just reading duckmastor's post about the Team Realtree videos, and, I am here to set the record straight.
I e-mailed Team Realtree a HUGE letter about how great I thought Monster Bucks X vol.1 and vol.2 were. I also discussed some of the "bashing" that members of this board do to these guys. 1st. ALL, YES ALL, of the Realtree hunts are FREE RANGING DEER. They may be on managed land, but, they are still free-ranging deer. Bill Jordan spent over three full months this past year hunting and only managed to take TWO bucks. It seems that alot of people are jealous of the Team Realtree boys, so, they feel that they need to criticize them just to show off their "awsome" hunting skill. Team Realtree hunts great land, that is strictly managed for healthy deer herds. They hunt HUGE plots of NON-FENCED land, and, they hunt hard. It would be NO different if you guys planted your 1,000 acre farm in good food plots then managed it for a good, healthy deer herd that produced lots of older bucks. If any of you do this and are criticizing the Realtree boys, you are contradicting yourselves. Also, from what I was told, there is going to be a new format for the up-comming videos. They will discuss stand placement, scouting, and tracking, along with all other aspects of the hunt. One major reason that Team Realtree hunts private managed land is because of the liability factor for hunting public land. What you all must realize is that these deer ARE FREE RANGEING WHITETAILS. They ARE NOT fenced, they could leave the property at any time, but, they choose to stay because of the better food for them. I had a personal guarentee from Bill Jordan, and the rest of the Team Realtree boys, that this comming years Monster Bucks videos are goingto be entirely different, in a good way. They will be the same class animals with more emphasis on the skills that are needed to harvest these caliber animals. i realize that there is no need to reply to this posting. but i will anyway.
i agree strongly with buck magnet. i beleive that those who say the realtrees boys are not what they are said to be are probably the ones that hunt two weeks out of the year(gun season). they do not work for there harvest they wait to shoot one when it walks by 300 yards away. i could only wish i had the fortitude to hunt as hard as they do. hunt on |
RE: I AM SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!
Buck,
I dont think I ever said that the fine people at realtree dont hunt free ranging animals and I do think they hunt hard. But you have to remember what they are hunting for. They really arent hunting for game, they are hunting to produce a TV show and Videos. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy watching the show esp before the season. But once you get out there and start hunting, its tough to watch. For most of us, hunting areas like that are a dream and deer they pass as "not what I'm looking for" would be Trophys. After hunting all morning Saturday, I came home and watched the rifle hunt they had in Kansas. I dont remember the guys name (he's not a regular) took a Hugh deer on the last day of his hunt. But we got to watch him pass on deer after deer, day after day, that make the jaws drop on east coast boys like me. The 10 point he passed on would probably be a State record here in Delaware. Their hunts are for entertainment purposes. I have no problem with Bill Jordon, RealTree Outdoors, where they hunt, what they hunt or how they hunt. Its just after our season starts here, It becomes more obvious how unrealistic it is for most of us. It no longer entertains me. Its no longer fun to watch. So i'll tune out, until next July, when their new season out and I'll be needing anykind of hunting fix. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Any day spent huntin, is better than any day spent workin,, Duckmastor2 |

Buck Magnet, I'm just curious, what is the public land liability factor?

RE: I AM SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!
I know that this thread is about TV hunters but, it shows the same traits that I see in other threads: "make self look good by putting others down!"
I think that most of the bashing that is done on this forum is done because of two things, jealousy, and/or the need to pump up ego by putting others down! Such as I'm a stalker, I'm better than those who hunt a stand, bow vs. gun, baiting vs. no bait, private land vs. public land, trophy hunting vs. meat hunting! The list goes on and on. Hunting is a personal sport, no, its more than a sport, not a competition! It really doesn't matter that not all hunters are trophy hunters or bow hunters. I spend very many days in the woods scouting and hunting, some people don't have the time that some of us do to devote to hunting. It doesn't bother me if they can afford to pay to hunt on a high dollar place! As long as they are not hunting pen raised, tame deer and trying to pass them off as fair chase. As I said, ego is to blame for most of the bashing that goes on here and doe not promote our sport very well! Frank |

RE: I AM SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!
There's no pleasing everyone. If someone doesn't pass on a smaller buck, someone gets angry. Now we're even raggin' on those who do pass on them. If a guy wants a mature buck (read 4.5 yrs or older), who cares if he passes on a 125 class 10 point? He's leaving more bucks for those who aren't as picky. If a guy wants to shoot mature bucks only, and make videos of it for us to see, then what's to complain about? If you prefer to see videos of tiny bucks being shot, just go out and video tape any of your friends. Ninty five percent or more will shoot the first brown thing that moves (please don't wear brown). It doesn't take any great skill to go out and shoot the first thing that walks by. You couldn't get me to pay for a video of the average guy shooting the average 1.5 yr buck. There's a heck of a challenge. I pass up an average of 10-15 1.5 yr bucks each year. Why would I want to pay to see someone shoot a juvenile buck I think should be allowed to grow up. I'm not saying no one should shoot them. I leave it up to the individual to determine what they want to shoot, but for me that thrill went away 25 years ago.
I can see it now, "Average Basket Racks and Spikes I". They'll never put out a second edition, because they'll be lucky to sell 100 of the first. Maybe "Button Bucks by the Bushell", will go over well. This would be a great snub for all us trophy hunters. The nerve of wanting a big racked deer, and actually waiting for one to walk by! |
RE: I AM SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!
I guess hunting videos have their place, but unless it's a video where they're hunting with longbows or recurves you'd have to go to extraordinary measures to get me to watch 'em. Like hogtying me, sitting me in front of the tube and then sewing my eyelids open. None of 'em I've ever seen is anything more than an infomercial for such and such products or hunting operations.
To each his own, but I've got better things to waste my time and money on. |
RE: I AM SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!
Man I just about cry when I see the deer they pass up because I'm lucky if I see deer.
