If you put baking soda into the formula, would it not leave a white residue on your clothing and bow?

I used this stuff extensively this weekend....it doesn't really leave much of a white residue (a little on the truck, my binoculars, etc., - nothing that wouldn't just wipe off), but it does lighten your hair!!! That's the peroxide in it.
