Oh the carbons
 

Ive started using aluminums as a kid and turned to cheaper style carbons $60 carbon express and think they just don't have the weight behind them, i think im going back to the heavy 2219. What do you all think? I cant seem to get pass threws even broad side at ten yards with 60 pounds, now i shot 70 but still. I dont know what to do.

Are you using fixed blade broadheads? My second guess would be your bow is out of tune. This will cause the arrow to hit the deer "sideways" preventing penetration. As for the weight you are on the money light carbons are junk for hunting[:'(]

ewolk im starting to think the same thing about carbons. No my bow is in tone arrows fly straight and true just no pwer behing then like they hit a rib and stop. Clueless man

Guys you have select the proper carbon shaft so you can get what you want out of them. If you want speed for 3D shooting then go for the light shafts if you want the most in penetration then go for the heavy shafts.

There are carbon shafts out there that weigh anywhere from 5.5 grains per inch all the way up to 15.5 grains per inch and all weights in between.

A 2219 weighs 13.7 grains per inch.

You might wana try some ACC's although they might be alittle pricey they got the best of both carbon and aluminum.

Carbon arrows weigh just the same as aluminum. Some, in fact, are over 11 grains per inch. The difference is diameter. THey get the same weight with smaller diameter, decreasing resistance and INCREASING penetration. I would also bet an out of tune bow, or just too light an arrow.

How heavy are the carbons per inch?

Mine are 9GPI and I have always gotten pass throughs.

I shoot the carbon express terminator selects with a 125 grain muzzy. They blow right through elk like they weren't even there.I can't obviuosly see why you don't get pass throughs. Where are you hitting them?

13 per inch i just dont think there consistant put together like a aluminum
