Awsome last day experience!!

Well i didn't get one but i had an awsome time anyway. It was the last day of bowhunting here in Illinois today so after finals i went straight into the woods. While walking to my stand i heard something to my left and sounded like a rabbit so i looked over there. And to my suprize it was a HUGE yote followed by another smaller one and this is only about 25 yards away! But they ran into the field towards my stand so i just kept on walking. After about an hour of sitting there in my stand to young doe's come running into the field and stop in the middle with their tails up, and im thinkin great they smelled me. but then they were looking over their sholder into the woods and i was thinkin a buck was going to come out...but instead those same to yotes came out chasing the deer!! i have never seen this before but i know it happens. haha im sorry but i thought that was awsome, even though i didnt kill anything i had a great last night hunting.

Sounds like a great hunt to me. Sure it's great when you get a chance at a deer but some of my best hunting days have been when I didn't see a deer at all.

My first day was like your last. On opening day (first year bowhunting remember) I was in my stand and had a doe and 2 fawns walk in about 15 yrds. A buck was behind her, but my brother in law was busted and they all bolted. That was my first experience being that close to deer and them not knowing I was there. On the way out from my stand, I had full draw on a big doe, but she went behind some brush, and then busted me. Off she went. I was pumped. NEver befoer had I been so close to 4 deer in all my years of hunting (with a gun).

Cool hunt! I love it when I see some of that out of the ordinary stuff nature suprises us with sometimes. Its what keeps me going out. You never know what your gonna see. One of my best days this year was opening day of gun season. No deer seen that day but shot a coyote. Made my day and maybe my season. I hate those things with a passion.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I also had fun on my last day in late archery, between my partner and I we saw 23 deer. That was the most we saw in a day all year. Loads of fun!
