Congrats on the nice deer. I hunt 5000 acres of family land in SW Iowa whenever I get selected in the lottery. I went this year but didn't get a shot at the bruiser I was after. What month were the majority of those taken? Just curious for future seasons.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Cardeer, yep there is some good hunting to be had around the Osage area. I have never personally hunted over there, but I know some good deer come out of there. I have some family that lives in Osage, did you ever live there or know some people there? Just curious if we know some of the same people.

Turkeyfan, About the 8 pointer going 166"...it dosent look like it in the photo, it just dosent do his deer justice. I posted a better picture of it, it should help clear things up for ya' And a pic of mine.

Swamp Dawg, They were all shot the last 2 weeks of November. It was a crazy two weeks. Rut here usually happens around the 15th or so of November.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. It was one heck of a season for all of us, and yes we are blessed by living where we do.

Thanks Deerslayer
We are all from Northwest Iowa. We all hunt together as a group, we really don't care who hunts where. We all try to call each other before we go out and see where everyone is going. We have never had a problem with running into each other this way. We play super close attention to wind and what is moving where. And when one of us shoots a deer, weather be it a nice doe or a buck, I think we are just as happy for the guy that shot it as he is. Also when you do get an arrow into one, all ya' need to do is put out a call or two and they are there to help track or whatever you might need. It's a great group of guys, and I feel lucky to be part of it.
Amen to that. That's when bowhunting gets fun. We all can't be in the woods at the sametime and even if you are it takes a little luck to be there at the right time.

Bear Guy, If my memory serves me correct .The farm I hunted was just west of osage on rt9 ,out near the potholes place ,which is a closed area to hunting. Infact the farm was right next to the potholes. He is a buggy mennonite that moved there from Pa. No I never lived there. I stayed in the hotel/bar just at the EAST end of Osage. A middle aged lady runs it. And seen the game warden in there one time drunk feeling up her boobs. LOL what bunch.
