Default Game tracking software?

Okay, I may be having a brain fart, but I could have sworn someone out there markets "hunting" software, i.e. game tracking software. Ya know, save sign and sightings to GPS, enter GPS info into software program (on PC/laptop), discover hotspots and feeding routines, etc.

Anyone know what I'm reffering to? Or am I way off track here?

It's called a notebook. It's this wonderful thing filled with paper. Generally you buy a pen/pencil in order to add information to it.

Some assembly required.

Old school style.

I have no idea if there is software like that out there though I do remember reading an article in one of my Bowhunter Magazines about something like this. I'll see if I can't find the article, check back for an edited post.

EDIT* I found the article I was talking about in the Whitetail Special 2003 issue of Bowhunter Magazine on page 83. The article is titled "Hunting With Your Head." Nowhere in the article do they mention a specific company that makes the type of software you're looking for but the author does mention that he uses aregular computer generated spreadsheet to log his information.

Contact Bowhunter and see if you can't order the issue from them, if not I may be willing to send you the issue myself, let me know.

ahhhhhhh!....a NOTEBOOK!

whooda thunk it?! THX FOR THE INFO!

well, I'll explain a little further...

The private property i hunt is only approx 40 acres, 12 of which is allocated to horse pasture...the woods have some good sign, but i'm unable to put the "pieces of the puzzle" together, as I don't beleive there are any deer living ON the property, but merely passing through and not very often, at that (no sign of bedding areas, only rubs and and a few scrapes here and there). Two fresh rubs were found a few weeks ago, as well as one new scrape that appeared to be freshened up not too long ago. The 40 acres are stretched out, rectangle shape rather than a square plot, therefore I only have so much "woods" to scout. I believe the deer are moving through the woods from one property to the next. One of the neighbors has a LARGE wooden treestand right on top of the property line. The rubs were found pretty close to that particuliar stand. I've gone over arial photos and topo maps...the woodlot is basically a funnel from one large stand of timber to another large lot...the area is mostly pasture land, so they HAVE to be moving through the property. I just can't figure out when and where and why they are going. [:@]

And all guesses, theories, and "thinkins" will now have to be accumulated and thought out for next year, as Saturday is the last day for deer, here.[>:]

PS. the owner's mother-in-law spotted a "BIG" 8 point in the front yard a few weeks ago.

VA- I would start by looking at an inside corner of the horse pasture. Where the woods meet the field or other transition areas.

Va-Your property sounds similar to some of ours. The part about the deer not staying or bedding on it is probably good since the tract is quite small, roughly 28ac. of woods and trying to sneak in and hunt them would be very hard without spooking them. I'd sacrafice some time and set up an observation stand. Pick a good spot or one that looks good and has somewhat of a vantage point, and see what happens. You might not have a deer come by within range but you can often see where they are moving and get set up closer.
