Shootem, there is a good book out there called "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". You may want to read it.

IMO it was probably an honest mistake. But that doesn't justify having this poor guy having to make an extra trip to rectify a mistake that was their fault. If it was my shop I would have either refunded the money or give the man a reciept for some kind of discount or something to make up for his trouble. If not I would never go back and explain to the owner you know why. Allso I would tell all my hunting friends to go to the more reputable place of bussiness dispite being owned by the same guy. Sooner or later he might figure out why noone goes to his second shop.

I work at a Archery Pro shop in Iowa... When we cut are arrows we put them away behind the saw and you cant really see them... This might be what the worker did and grabbed the arrows and accidentally left one behind... Sounds to me like and honest mistake.

Sounds like an honest mistake. My suggestion would be to handle it in a mature fashion. It is not worth getting your tail feathers all in a ruffle. Life is to short to expand so much energy over an arrow. The guy was new according to your post. Were you not new to something at one point in your life. Let us see, toilet training we were all new to that at one point and made mistakes, shooting a bow, show me someone who shot perfect from day one. I think you get my drift.

You called an employee at the store and they have your arrow. When you go back in for the arrow and they apologize say, "Hey everyone makes mistakes. My folks were not thrilled about having to drive me back and forth on two different occassions for the same item but I'll deal with them. Any chance of getting my Mom or Dad a free hat with your shops name on it for their troubles. It's free advertisement when the wear it!" They will either chuckle and say no or throw you the hat or something.

In reality what happens to us always seems like a big deal and I understand the inconvienience factor. Put it in perspective though missing one arrow is small compared to many many things that go on in life. If he were trying to rip off arrows he'd be tossing cases out the back door of the place. Additionally, it would take him an awful lot of arrows one at a time to make any significant amount of money for himself or the store.

Let us know how you make out.

Good grief! I hate to think of all the conspiracy plots you'd come up with if you ever got shorted a burger at the drive-thru window at Mickey D's![:-]

Geez son, you buyin arrows made of gold? I dont know why someone would wanna keep a single arrow, but you know everybody is out to get cha!!! I suppose that your wearing a tinfoil helmet so that the aliens wont steal your thoughts neither? Now by reading the post it says that the one shop is for fishing and the other for hunting... Now how could you have spent all sorts of money at the store if they just opened up the store for hunting a week ago? I could be wrong, but maybe you should loosten up that tinfoil cap because not everyone is out to get cha!!!

It sounds to me like a very honest mistake. He probly went to pick them all up, and dropped one on accident. You think you have it bad? I've been waiting over two months to get a 3 pack of Magnus Stingers from Central Illinois Archery. I finally bought them from Cabelas, but the next time I'm out there, The guy is gonna get an ear full.

I think I know why he doesn't have his license yet. Your young, let me give you some advice. Never assume anything. Always count your change, always check the bag at the drive thru, always ask to see the old parts when your car is worked on, and always count your arrows or inventory your equipment before leaving somewhere. Mistakes happen on both sides sometimes. I have had to drive 20 miles one way to get my release before because I left it at a shop testing bows. That sort of sucked. I have also had shops forget to do things the way I wanted and the such. Remember you are not the only customer and sometimes things get hectic. I know it's not an excuse, but it is an explanation. I not only would have counted my arrows, I would have measured them. Out of curiousity, did you buy the arrows there, or just take them in to get them cut? Not that it really matters though.

Just wait until you get a job or something and screw something up really bad. A lost arrow is pretty minor in the large scheme of things.

I didn't think what I said before was that harsh or mean. You should have seen what I really wanted to say. I was telling it like it is is all. Have you ever been accused of something you didn't do, or blamed for something that was an accident. I have and it sucks.

How were you planning on working there if you didn't have a way to get there? Employers do consider that when hiring. Unless you will be driving soon or something.

I sure hope the owner or anyone that works there doesn't visit this site, like the guy that cut your arrows.

Good luck,
Paul
