Which do you prefer and why?

Just this year I went back to Muzzy's after using Wasp Jakhammers for three years. I personally didn't like the lack of penitration that I got with the mechanicals. 2 deer this year and one of them shot at just a little over 40 yards and I gor complete pass throughs on both. JMHO.

I shoot Muzzy's also 4 blade 115 gr.
I use a slower bow and I always get full penatration for a good exit wound and easy and short blood trail to the deer

spitfire mechanicals ,find they shoot like my practice tips and always get good penatration and most the time pass thrus with exit holes that you could drive a truck through. Infact this year you could look through the deer like a scope.

"we all know what is going to happen"..... yep,... I was thinking that eventually it will turn into soma kind of fight like most posts on this topic do! That's what usually happens as soon as even just a little bashing from someone starts. :D All that being said, I prefer mechs. The reason is simple for me, I have never seen anything that could put deer down as quickly and as cleanly as do my tursted Rocket Styeelheads do! I have used dozens of differnet b-heads and many of the popular quality designs but the Rockets have impressed me the most. 25 deer, every single shot has been a complete pass though and not a single deer has taken more than 60 yards on me! That's a level of performance I've never personally seen with ANY other b-head design!!! 100% fully functioning, full size entry and exit holes everytime. It's reliablity that I personally have only heard of from Rocket b-heads. A truly exceptional deployable blade "aerohead" system! Devastating!

Fixed Thunder head 100 grain. I lost a nice deer on a mech. once. I don,t think the damn thing opened. I hit him right in the boiler room and the arrow didn,t pass thru. 15 yds tops. I have always had pass thru shots with the thunder heads. Just my humble opinion though,

I use both, If I am hunting an area where I anticipate a longer shot, I'll use a fixed blade. If I'm hunting an area where I anticipate a short range shot, I'll use a mechanical. that's how I do it.

I always have to chuckel when I read someone blame the tip of thier arrow for lack of success. I ain't the broadheads fault if ya can't place the arrow where it is supposed to go. And most story's about mechanical broadheads not working, are really stories about a missed place arrow and the person telling the tale is expecting the broadhead to save him.
sorry ain't going to happen, a missed place arrow is a misplaced arrow and recovery will vary no matter what broadhead you were using at the time..

As for my personal experience comparing fixed to mechanical, I have noticed that the mechanical's seem to put the deer down quicker. for me a good shot with a mechanical the deer is usually down 30 to 50 yards from me. when I use a fixed seems like the deer are usually found 70 to 125 yards away. I guess maybe because the deer is out farther when I use a fixed to begin with.
anyway that's my experience.

I think all the broadheads on the market today will put a deer down if placed correctly..
