Thanks for taking the time to respond again, Nubo. But I know this herd intimately. I know EXACTLY where they bed, EXACTLY where they feed, their travel routes, everything. I guess I'm looking for a simple yes or no answer: Will they get up out of their beds and travel to their feeding areas with eight inches of snow on the ground?

have never got to hunt in snow yet seeing as how here in Indiana we are LUCKY if it snows before January lately!
Buck Huntin Girl - Come up here to the Northern part of the state and experience the beauty of lake effect!
We have had a snow cover of between 3 and 8 inches for most of the last 4 weeks. I have been out several times but haven't seen any definite tendencies with the snow cover. Did notice that they bed down one evening in an area that is relatively open where they don't normally bed, however that night the snow was sticking to the trees and it did create a lot of cover among the a smaller tree stand where they slept.

Yes

As Nubo already pointed out, their tracks in the snow will tell you for sure.

Also look for red colored urine in the snow - that'll tell you if you have any does still in estrus.

There "exact"spots of feeding and bedding have now changed due to the snow conditions. They will definately bed in thicker cover then before to get out of the elements(exp----pine and cedar)They may even feed in different locations now due to the deep snow.If you have ice under the snow due to a drastic drop in temp before it snowed the deer may not feed in the open fields as easy.Look for the spots in the field that snow blew off of,thick dense woods with low lying foilage, this is where the deer will be feeding.

And YES the deer will feed after the storm as they normally would, just may be in different areas.
I find here in my area, the deer change their travel patterns due to snow.Follow their tracks and they will tell ya EXACTLY where they are feeding and bedding

They have to eat no matter what the weather is like. Look for corn as it is huge in protein and they will flock to it. They may pass it up before the snow but they wont once the white stuff hits.

I have to say yes they will ,but the snow will make a difference ,if snow is coming they'll feed like crazy ,but if the snow has already started then they'll stay put .
MQ1 !

I don't mind taking the time to answer these type of question's since here in Ont I seem to be doing lot's of hunting in the snow ,as other's have said the deer may change thier routine's when the snow hit's the ground. This is why I say get out early and check out where they've been ,because they most likely will change routine .I've been seeing deer all the time this fall in a certain area ,but when the snow hit the ground all of a sudden I wasn't seeing these deer any more ,Why? because the snow ,I found them but they were staying high and not in the low land because the snow was a problem for them .
