Moderator Cup Sign Up Page
 

For those of you interested in signing up for this years moderators cup, please post a reply here. The rules are going to be the same as last years, and I have an idea and wanted to get your feedback on it.

The first two years we have only done bowhunting, but what do you think about having a bowhunting catagory and an "other weapons" catagory, both with the largest whitetail buck by BTR scoring, and the viewers choice. Other weapons being muzzleloaders, shotguns, rifles, handguns, whatever else. A total of 4 trophies would go out to the winners after the entry deadline of Jan. 30th, 2003.

The entry fee will be the same as last years. Minimum of a $2 entry fee, but you can send up to $5. Last year the two trophies maxed out the budget, but they were high cost trophies. I still want to get something nice for the winners, but want to make it so more trophies go out.

IL_BOW_MAN has offered to set up the webpage again to hose the photos. Non-enterants will also have a place to display their 2002 trophies.

You can count me in this year. I need a trophy to match the one from 2000<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. As far as the idea to award trophies to &quot;other weapons&quot; participants, I'll reserve my comments for another thread<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. Sounds good to me and thanks to you and Ilbowman for putting this together.

Sign me up again. I think the Moderators Cup should remain bow only. If the other weapons users would like to start their own, have at it. Its been bow only, it should remain bow only. Email me your address again and I'll get the money sent out.

How about deer other than whitetails like elk, moose, carabou, mulies. We don't have too many of those whitetails here in Colorado.

After thinking about it a little more, and reading some responses here, I think we will leave this bowhunting only. If the rifle hunters want to start something up based on this, then they are welcome to.

BigBulls, we don't have any whitetail deer in Alaska either, and because of concerns like yours is the reason we decided to go with a viewers choice award. I think this year we will do a first and second prize for both catagories. There were some great ideas last year for some other catagories, but only one or two people showed interest, not the majority, so I think it should be kept with the majority.

Entry fees are $2-$5 depending on how much you wish to enter. At the end of the sign up deadline, Sept. 30th, I will make a list of all enterants and go ahead and get the trophies made earlier this year. I will wait until the end of the competition, Jan. 30th, '03, and then have the winners names engraved on the trophies and mail them out shortly afterwards.

Make sure to write your name, address, hunting.net user name, and make checks, money orders or whatever you pay with out to me.

I won't be home for the majority of the season up until the middle of October, so my wife will collect the entries and file them away for me until I get home from Montana in late Sept. I will make a list of all members that have entered so far, and we will allow a grace period for people that have signed up, but haven't sent their money yet.

Belle, last year the biggest buck won the biggest buck award, and the people that voted for the viewers choice award won the viewers choice award.

The hunting.net members photos page is set up aside from the competition. Those are members trophies for the year, but they didn't enter the contest. Maybe that is what you are thinking?

Heck i figure you, Robert, and myself have a good chance at getting the viewers choice anyway. Never know we might end up getting a decent deer as we are chasing the elk around too!!!

Although I haven't seen much buck activity yet, I'm feeling this could be a great year. I had fun with this last year, so definitely count me in. What is the deadline for entry and cut-off for registering an entry. Thanks for setting this up again and for IBM for putting together the site.

Don, sure, I can take your entry fee in Montana. I don't know if I'll have enough room to bring it back with all the meat and antlers I plan on bringing home though. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Deadlines are:
Sign up and fees should be in by the last day of Sept. We allowed a grace period last year, and will allow one again this year.

Submissions of trophies need to be in by Jan. 30th, 2003. The largest buck will be decided and the viewers choice will be selected by the members votes. Last year we had votes coming in for about a month and a half, so I will probably put a March experation on there.
