This is probably a really dumb question but ill ask it anyways. How many of you sit in a tree all day? I thought you usually saw deer in the morning or evening. Is it worth my time to hunt all day, or should I stick to just morning or evening?

I,ve found that a deer will bed down in cold weather for about 2 to 3 hrs then move around a bit. You have a chance at seeing a deer any time of the day. But everyone knows deer thirty in the evening or early morning hunts are the most productive. But is it because that is when most hunters hunt?

ryo and nubo,
Do you guys hunt all day very often? The reason I asked is because until the last few years when I started hunting all day quite a bit, I would have told you the same thing. However, after hunting the last few years and seeing numerous deer and killing several deer in the middle of the day, I no longer subscribe to that philosophy. My last two trips this past week as a matter of fact I saw one group of deer each hunt. One day the deer came by at 11:15 and the second day a group came by at 2:05. Last year I killed a buck at 10:45, a doe at 1:00, a doe at 2:00, and a buck at 2:45. Now I am not saying that you have to hunt all day to be successful. However, getting into the mindset that deer only move early and late can be detrimental to your hunting success. One thing for sure is that you can't kill them if you're not there. It didn't take me but a couple of all day hunts until I started expecting to see deer all day long. Most of the time I do see deer pretty consistently throughout the entire day.

Even if the deer aren't moving look at the time well spent in the woods with the squirrels, birds and the rest of the wildlife. If you sit back and really pay attention to mother nature, you will have a whole different perspective on the greatoutdoors.
