every try this?
i shot a doe with the bow the other day. the entry/ exit was very neat and she didnt bleed externally, dropped on the spot.
now i gotta back up. i got rear ended and my jeep was out of commision, so i had a brand new rental mini van. with carpeting.with no tarp or plastic. you see where i'm headed here. so, since it was like a 50 yd drag to the car, i figure if i DONT gut the deer it wouldnt make a mess in the van. wrapped a scarf around the wound, no prob there.
when i got home my dad suggested hanging it heads up to gut it. i put a rubbermaid container under it , cut around the rear and opened her up . with just a diaphragm cut and the windpipe cut, everthing fell neat as could be into the container, and i was done. no mess no problems....
i still hung it head down for aging, but if the drag is short and the deer not too heavy i'll be doing it this way from now on. and i didnt have to deal with crows and vultures hanging around my spot lookin for a free lunch.
ever try it?

Gravity is cool. Motown that might work where you live. But I guarantee you if you hang a deer up in the woods around here all the hunters around the area will be shooting at it. I had a guy shoot my dead deer while I was dragging it

A friend of mine called me last year. He asked me to come out and help him because he shot his first deer and wasnt sure what to do. I go to his house and he has this big doe hanging up in the garage head down. I was thinking he gave it a try and figured it out. I walk up to give congrats and see he has done nothing. LOL He dragged this thing across his property about 200yds got his lawnmower straped it up an hung it in the garage. We turned it over and dropped the guts out. It was the easiest job i have ever done.
