Blown bow

I just got my buddy on my team into bow hunting. He went out and bought a PSE. You guys all know how much it can cost to get a complete bow set up, but he was hell bent on buying all his own stuff.. In any case this poor guy had his bow 3 days and it blew up in his face while drawing an arrow. Apparently the Warrenty guy said that the cam had not been deburred to satisfaction so it cut the string on the bottom cam. Now this guy is not too sure about his bow even though they replaced the strings and cam... I am just trying to get a feel for anyone who might have had this happen to them I am pretty sure that the bow is fine but then again it is not mine.... [:@]

That's a good way of getting someone out of a great sport ,he'll alway's be waiting for his bow to blow up again .

I would contact PSE and tell them about you problem. I'm sure they will do something about it.

Since it was a new bow I would contact PSE and be very persistant about getting his bow replaced. Have him explain to them that he will never trust this bow again, and it wasn't his fault it let go. They might take his old one and give him a new one just to keep him happy. Most of the guys there are archers and understand how much confidence plays a part in in this sport. Let us know what happens, I am curious as to how they treat him.

It could mean the difference between getting a cusomer for life if he is treated right, or having him ditch the bow and getting another brand and never dealing with PSE again. I think they know this, whether they care or not is another story.

Ahhhh... that's something he'll remember alright. PSE you say? P=pull S=shoot E=explode... yup, that's what happens. [8D];) Ok, ok, I'm kidding, just couldn't let that one get by. I had a bow go to chunks from a 3D season of abuse... totally my fault, trying to squeeze all the fps I could out of it by shooting ultra light arrows. I'm sure PSE will make it right for him, they've been around a long time and have a good reputation.

Had the same thing happen with my Mathews last year when I was drawing on a 5x5 bull elk at 15 yards, Mathews had it fixed in 24 hr's and it was no charge to me but It did blow my chance at that bull.

I'd contact PSE immeditely. PSE has it's own message board:
http://forums.pse-archery.com/forumd...c180&forumid=4
and the pse crew there are great. I personally would send a private message to Diane Watson (she works for pse and has plenty of clought). IMO if it's a factory issue they should and I'm willing to bet they will replace the bow. This certainly isn't a case of misuse or abuse. I expect they will make it right as I've seen them do for other customers. In archery circles word of mouth travels. They know this and will do what it takes to make things right.

I didn't read the post on the PSE forum, but I have talked to Brad via E-mail a few times. He is not out to bash anyone and is pretty polite and level headed when I talk to him. He is simply trying to help a buddy and make sure things are done right by him.

If you want PSE bashing I will go over there. I belong to the site but rarely go there because you can't really voice your opinion without offending someone. I bet if he would have bought a bowtech he would be holding a new bow by now. He may have had to gripe a bit about it, but I bet he would have got it.

If bet if he were one PSE's target shooters he would have gotten a new bow right off the bat just to apease him. But since he is just Joe Nobody who gives a crap.

I agree with most of the others that there most likely is nothing wrong with his bow. These bows can withstand alot and still keep on ticking perfectly. And I told Brad that as well. PSE knows this as well, that's why they don't want to eat the cost and replace his bow. However if he doesn't feel comfortable shooting it, he doesn't feel comfortable shooting it. That's all there is to it. They should try to do right by him, I doubt it would cost them that much. It wasn't his fault after all.

After this he will most likely never buy a PSE product again, and I can't say that I blame him. By the way Brad, make sure he knows that AR bows are made by PSE as well. As are some of the bows made for Cabela's.

RE: Blown bow

I just read the thread on the PSE forum and it didn't seem out of line at all to me. On the other hand if you are the guy that was trashing him and accusing him you were out of line.

I think I am the one that suggested he post something on the PSE forums about it. Unfortunately he got the response I figured he would.

One of the staff shooters there commented on it being like a truck. If his truck broke down he wouldn't expect GM to give him a new one, just fix it. Well his bow didn't just break down or have a minor problem, it exploded and injured him and could have possibly injured someone around him when the arrow shattered. If my car blew up while I was sitting in it and I got injured you can bet your ass Dodge would be giving me a new one and paying for any other damage that occured.

And I don't care what these people say, if one of the staff shooters bows exploded PSE would be kissing thier butt and they would have a new bow the same freakin day, period.

I suggest your buddy looks at a Darton, Bowtech or Hoyt for his next bow. And that he and the salesman looks over the bow very well before he actually pays for it.

At the very least he should have gotten new limbs, axles, strings and cams out of it. Not just file down the cam and put it back on.

RE: Blown bow

Personally, I don't think I'd want to shoot a bow that was so fragile it couldn't easily handle one broken string at full draw. I had that happen to a martin. I carefully looked it over, put it back together and put another 30,000 worry-free shots on the bow. It was one of their $300 models.

I doubt your friend has anything to worry about. Have a competent shop check it thoroughly and all should be well.
