My favorite for whitetail bowhunting is "Bowhunting's Whitetail Masters" by Ban Bertalen and for all around whitetail information David Morris's "Hunting Trophy Whitetails" and "Advanced Strategies for Trophy Whitetails" are both very scientific based and informative.

I am reading two books right now. Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails by John Eberheart
and Aggressive Whitetail Hunting by Greg Miller. Both have been very good so far
IMO.

While all the books stated above are good. They're not going to get you any closer to deer I think. Trust me, I've read nearly all of them. I will say that I beleave that Brad Herndons book "mapping trophy bucks" is probally one of the best. This book helps you understand terrain.

As far as hunting mature bucks, go with "hunting bucks the benoit way". These books are actually written by real world hunters like you or I.

Deer and Deer Hunting magazine is by far the most informative reading material you can get on whitetail deer research, behavior, and scientific mojo.

North American Whitetail is excellent for their stories on regular real world guys getting big whitetail. These stories are great to lock back into your head. When a certain condition occurs on stand you can refer quickly to another persons successful hunt, or even stand placement.

hope this helps...

I've read so many over the years I can't remember the different names. I have learned a lot from all of them and the most recent ones have been by Greg Miller.
