Bowfever

Well, I had a very successful week off from work to bowhunt and for the first time ever I tagged out. I ended the week with a 4 point, 7 point, and a nice doe. Three is the limit during bow season here and one of the last two has to be a doe. I had a lot of fun using my rattle bag and True Talker deer call. The bucks were really responsive to the calls this time of year as it looks like the rut is right around the corner in southern WV. I actually watched a big 8 point make a scrape right out of bow range after coming in to the rattling..another first for me. The ol' harvest necklace I got from Cardeer was with me the entire time, THANKS CD!!! The first two bucks were taken at around 30 yards and the doe was within 15 yards. Each shot was a complete double lung pass-thru and were easily recovered. Just wanted to share my success. This ol' ground hunter usually don't get more than one a season. It was a week I'll never forget.

Sounds like you were on a roll! Does your regular season allow you more deer or is that it for you this year? Get to butchering now...

I did get pics of me and the 7 point, if they turn out. It was dark, raining when they were taken but I do have a couple of it from my game camera. I need to get the film developed ASAP. I still have rifle/buck season, muzzleloading and anterless season left so I could get a couple more, we'll see. If not, I'm happy with what I have anyway.
