The pre-rut is really starting to take off here in West Virginia. I have not been hunting due to the heat wave we have had the last few days. Thursday night our temps are supposed to drop down into the 30's. Which should make Friday an excellent day for hunting. The only problem is it is supposed to be windy with winds 15mph-20mph.
From you guy's experience will this wind keep bucks from moving?

We had gusty winds and rain last night. You can read my post " I may regret this one" about the night I had.
To make the story short, yes deer were moving. Now if it gets above the 15-20 MPH mark it may curtail movement until the stronger winds subside.

Almost all of mt hunts this year have been on windy days(25-30+ gusts) and have seen deer evertime. Keyword is "see" because you wont hear them.
But on the flipside they can't hear you nearly as well making hunting 10x easier IMO.

Saturday I was at a hunt at a military base with 35 mile an hour gusts. There was a lot of buck movement right in the middle of the day. Lots of guys saw bucks running does.
For me it actually helped. I put out some tinks and a buck walked right up to it. Who knows how far away he first smelled that stinky stuff.

Don't let the wind stop you. My biggest buck to date was shot during 25 - 30 MPH winds at the peek of the rut. MO hntr is correct , you will never hear them coming so keep your eyes peeled.
