Who is your hunting buddy??
 

Well i had this topic posted a few months ago, and could not find it to post it back on here, so here is another one!!(YEA!!) Well i have two hunting buddies this year.........my long term hunting mentor my uncle tony, and my long term best friend who just recently bought him a climber and is spending more time with me and my uncle in the woods this year, i am very proud of him. When my two boys get old enough i will have two more hunting buddies!! Who is y'alls hunting buddy!??;)

I've got three, and we can any of us go alone or with any of the others. My wife, my brother-in-law and father-in-law. Me and the father-in-law get to go most, but the wife goes every weekend at least once.

I hunt with my dad almost every weekend and sometimes my two bro's go. Also my 5 year old is working on his hunting skills.

i usually hunt ith my dad and if i dont hunt with him its either alone or with my friend from school.

Until recently, only my dad would fit the buddy name. Now that my son hunts, it is the three of us. Oh the things we talk about! I have other friends I hunt with but by far, my favorites are my dad and son.

Most days in the woods it's Dad. But he really hasn't been bitten by the bowhunting bug. He'd rather rifle hunt for deer or pursue small game and such.

My brother in law is starting to bowhunt, but I have a hard time with him. He uses a crossbow (legal in Ohio) but doesn't realize that shot placement is the key. I have already spent an evening tracking a wounded buck that he shot when he got "brown" in the scope. Where were you when you shot? "somewhere around here" where was the deer? "I dunno out there somewhere" Ok fine where is the arrow? " I picked it up, it's back in the truck." What did the deer do after the shot. "Ran Off" Where? "I dunno across the field somewhere" arghhhhhhh. 2 hours later still hadn't picked up any sign. Went back and looked at the arrow. It had some blood and fallow on it. To his credit he did go back at first light the next day and searched and searched the area, no luck though.

needless to say I enjoy his company but not his ethics. Yes he needs educated, and we talk about details and such but since he is new and excited sometimes it's in one ear and out the other.

I hunt with some putz named Michael Willand. Unfortunately for the both of us, we've been friends since high school and continue to annoy each other throughout hunting seasons, year after year. :D

My main hunting buddy is still my dad though. Been hunting with the old man since I was a wee boy and I try to spend as much time with him as I can, hunting or otherwise.

I'm the lone wolf in my family clan. No kids or wife so I hunt alone most of the time.

I hunted for years for birds with my ole' man. These days he just doesn't get out much. Even hunted with the immortal Todd Graf a time or two. Hes alright I guess.:D
In high school I met this goofy lookin' kid named Justin Zarr. Sure he reeked of stale cabbage and gut shot deer but I thought he was ok. So I quickly took him under my wing and showed him how to look good, in the woods or with a lady.
This season marks my 5th or 6th year hunting with Justin, 3rd or 4th with his dad. We've had some great unsuccessful hunts over the years. But its always been a good time. I always look forward to our hunting road trips come October through December.[:@]

In past years it was my grandfather. Even though he passed away years ago he's still always with me on the hunt. This season though my 10 month old son is with me. Even if it's only in my mind. :)

My hunting buddies are the birds and squirrels. I do not have one. My dad is too busy to hunt. I wish I had one though.

Well, when it comes to deer hunting, im my own buddy.. I am gonna try deer hunting with my best friend a few times come November.. When it comes to bird huntin my buddy used to be my old man... He hasn't picked up a shotgun in about 4 years so I had to move on. My best bird huntin buddy is my best friend Jared, his dog Sadie, and my dog Max... I've got a few new buddies lined up for pheasant huntin this year... It just so happens that they are all managers from work!!!:D Hopefully i dont show them up!!!

Now it's my son Mitchell. Used to be my dad but parkinsons and a stroke put an end to his time in the woods. I miss having him for a hunting partner but my son is doing a pretty good job at filling his shoes.

Dad was always the man, but he's been gone from us for a while now.....Now I'm waiting on my little one to get grown enough.

EVERYONE in my family hunts, including my 2 sister-in-laws, but my nephew PAHUNTER21 is my favorite hunting buddy and mentor. We have rifle hunted and small game hunted together for years. When I decided to get into archery a few years ago, he was patient with me and all my questions. We enjoy sharing our hunting experiences and learn from each other.

I hunt with my best friend who got me into bowhunting. My dad is an avid fisherman but I'm trying to give him something to do during the fall months and come hunting. I gave him my old bow and he shoots with me a couple times, but I haven't gotten him into the woods yet.

I have many hunting buddies in my family. Many of them have taught me the ropes and helped me out a lot. But one person will always be my #1 hunting buddy and that is my grandpa. He has killed many deer most of them average deer with the exception of a 140 class buck he shot in Georgia last year. I shot my first deer my first year hunting with him. Although sometimes he does get aggrevaiting to hunt with he is my fav. person to hunt with. To tell you the truth I would rather hunt with him than some famous hunter like Michael Waddell.

My hunting buddy during squirrel season is my 8 year old. In fact, I'm forgoing deer hunting this Saturday because he wan't to do some squirrel hunting in the afternoon. We won't be staying till dusk since it's the first day of muzzleloader season here and I don't want to take chances on something happening to my boy from a fair weather hunter when it's gettin dark. He's working on his archer skills as well. Don't tell him, but he's getting a new bow for Christmas this year.
During deer season, my hunting buddy is a friend of mine who hasn't started bow hunting yet. He owns a bow but doesn't start till Muzzleloader season. We'll gun hunt all season together once General firearms season starts. I look forward to the time when he and I can take our sons with us deer hunting.

Over the years they have come and gone. I am waiting on my 4yo for another few years. When I first moved to this area I hooked up with my wifes Uncle. A barrel of laughs to watch him; always late, forgets gear, afraid to stray more than 20 yds off the logging roads, always on the 2 way, would rather sit together and reminice, on the tailgate if he had his way. Probably why he only has 2 deer in 40 yrs of hunting. I still hook up with him on that one day during rifle season when I really don't feel like getting one!! Then there is mike the 70 yo fellow who used to be my neighbor. His story of how his hunting buddy of years passed away touched me. I felt bad so in '96 asked him to join me. Never seen an older fellow smile so bright. Every year it is like a ritual the day or two before opening rifle weekend begins I hope the phone doesn't ring because I know neither of us will get one. It always does and the wife always tells me it will and Mike will be on the other end asking where we are going opening Saturday. He's gotten lost on me, never stays where he says he will( cost me a few shots over the years) sneezes and coughs etc.. etc.. But what the heck I hope when I am his age someone will take me out with them. The phone call is only 2 weeks away. Actually, it is probably only 2 days away as muzzleloader opens here this Sat.Then my buddy Dick. He's a classic and can fling arrows or jack the lever on his .35 quicker than anyone I know and gets one every year within the same area of woods. The wifes cousin and uncle in WV who I shared laughs with last year when I was their guest and perhaps next year me and her cousin will visit a friend of mine in WI for rifle season. Maybe one of the other buddies will go to WI who knows. Finally my hunting buddy Jim. Even my 4yo calls him Huntin Buddy Uncle Jim. He got me back into bowhunting this year and I am grateful. He has been a coach and motivator. He even has talked me into going to NJ ( Original home for me) bow hunting over the Thanksgiving holiday.

So yeah I am blessed. I am sure I have my quirky issues in all of their minds as well. I wouldn't trade any of the experiences I have had with any of them. It's all part of the game we call hunting.

Mostly My Dad and a Family Friend. Occasionally I take some school friends for a hunt, and during Thanksgiving I am blessed with my brothers's presence in Southern Tier Shotgun. But 75% of the time, its Myself, or myself, my father and the Family Friend, of whome got me into Bowhunting and Turkey Hunting...what a guy!

Gotta be my nephew Richie, his son and stepsons. We hunt every Saturday from mid October until the hunting season ends.

I hunt on a friend's land and he is always home when I hunt and know's where I'm at in the woods for safety. Other than that I always hunt alone. I enjoy the peace of just sitting by my self and watching the sun rise or set.
