RE: aiming from your tree stand
The way i aim from my treestand is where i want the arrow to come out at. I shoot from a 15 stand and the way my arrow comes out at 20 yards, i just put the pin where the arrow should comeout on the other side of the body cavity. Works for me.

RE: aiming from your tree stand
I practice from a treestand and then I aim where I want to hit.

RE: aiming from your tree stand
Right on - that is the spot that you want to hit. TFOX said "I always aim for where I think the path of the arrow will end up going thru the vitals, from a stand this will be slightly higher than from the ground." He is totally correct, but don't misinterpret the verbage "slightly higher". What he means is that the "vitals" picture will move up the deer. If you think about it as hitting the 12 ring on a 3D target, you will hit low and possibly not hit any vitals.
Like TFOX others have said, think about where the arrow will exit and the path it travels to get to the other side. I carry two judo pointed arrows in my quiver so that I can practice shooting at a leaf or other object from varying heights and distances in tree stands. |

And he always makes me fetch his judo points when I come to drag him out of the tree. Not too long ago he said get my arrows. Dead center in this non discript little stump at 50 yards... 2 judos. I think he just likes to make me walk. I should have accused him of sticking them in there from 10 yards before he climbed the tree.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
I to aim at what I want to hit. Just practice, anchor correctly and shoot. I like to think of the animal as 2 dimensional... top back line and belly. Aim at the center of mass and you'll be fine. The closer the animal is to straight down the closer you get to the spine. So an animal straight down if you aim center of mass you're on the spine. At least that's where I want to hit. On some high strung animal that I know is going to drop I aim lower knowing the animal will fall into the arrow. The closer you get to straight down the less a duck by the animal matters. |
