experimenting with face camo...

Here's the deal.....
I had seen one of you fine hunters with face camo on another post. I forget who it was, sorry bout that.....
I asked about it & he said he likes it because he can anchor better with face camo. And, it gets him in the mood for hunting....
I thought to myself....this sounds like a good idea.....
I looked around the house this morning to see if I could find anything that I could use for face camo. I didn't have time to go buy any.
I am a lady, so, I naturally have face camo of sorts handy. But, none of the face camo that I wear for make up was right. It wasn't dark enough, and it also smelled pretty.
So, I kept looking around the house. I found a marker in with my kids art stuff. It said it was washable.....
I tested it on my arm first. I did wash off. So, I tried it on the morning hunt.
I went to the grocery store in the afternoon. I saw halloween face paint. I tried it this evening. It didn't wash off as well. But, when it goes on clearance, I will pick up some.
I will eventually get to my hunting store to get real camo paint. I do like it better than the mask.
But, I have to tell ya....the washable marker was great. It washed off easily. It was handy. It marked precisely how I wanted it. It didn't slop on....
So........just thought I'd say all of this because this is new to me. It frees up your face to be a better anchor & I'm excited about that.
Thank you to the hunter who explained it to me.

sunset........
It is a good idea. I'm seriously thinking of doing the same (Not with a magic marker however
)
I love my headnet, but it can be odd anchoring quickly especially as it gets colder and the neck gaiters and such start seeing action.
Plus that scratchy material always sounds like a deer sneaking up on me when I turn my head.
I'm already light tan, so it should be pretty darn easy to duplicate the ASAT pattern on my face. I'll just need the brown and black stripes.
I am going on a big hunt soon and am trying to eliminate all possibilities of scewing it up.

I like both thier are advantages to both like with paint it is easier to find your anchor and it does take away the brightness of our skin, but the mask I feel breaks up the out line of our faces/heads because it is a little baggy compared to paint where it does not break up our outline. I think they both are good as the other it is just what you like better. The paint I tried was halloween paint I bought last year and it was just as good as the more expensive paint sold at my local hunting shop.

the marker that i found in my kids art supplies is washable, water based, avery, wide tipped, gotta tell ya, it worked great...
here's a tip though.....I had a roast, taties, & carrots cooking for my friend and her familywhile I was hunting. (She has been sick)...I came out of the field after my hunt to get the roast out of the oven & deliver it to her. Went to her door....&
I terrified her kids who have known me for years LOL.....
I will take baby wipes in the van with me from now on.....[&:]
