Default The Patriot is no longer a virgin.

Got my first kill with the Patriot this weekend. I went to my company lease this weekend to help out on a management hunt and ended up shooting a spike on Saturday morning. I shot him at 8 yards and just prior to the shot, he turned quatering to me. I puched him just behind his right shoulder and it exited out his stomach near his "willie" and then continued completely through his left hindquarter and stuck into the ground about 4". He ended up snapping the back 6" off of my arrow so I lost my Lumenok. He piled up within about 80 yards. I had an opportunity to shoot a doe that afternoon but passed because she was right at the edge of my comfortable shooting range and she was woulnd up tighter than a clock spring so I elected to pass on her. Later I regretted that decision; even though I saw about 12-13 deer none ever gave me a decent shot.

Oh well, that still leaves them 50 does and 14 spikes/culls for the rest of the season. Maybe I can help them again later in season.

BTW, I was using Easton Lightspeed 340s with Crimson Raptor 100 grain broadheads (which are pretty darn devastating) cresting wraps, 3" feathers, and Lumenoks. This setup weighs 405 grains and is traveling 303fps out of my bow. Judging from the results, penetration is not an issue.

Awesome Mike............congrat's !!

Are the Raptor's the ones that are a cut on contact fixed blade but have two expandable blades also ? If so I have been really curious about the type of hole they would punch !!
