i know this question is asked a lot but here is my situation, i have always owned a mathew, currently an lx and love it but on this forum i notice a lot of people prefure the bowtech so i got on ebay and you can get one a patriot pretty much fully equiped for around 500 where a mathews is 700 fully equiped. wow what a difference. i am moving and my lease will run me about double what i pay now so the next bow i get i am thinking about switching. what is the difference in how they shoot. i know the bowtech is faster which is great but is it as smooth, quiet and forgiving.
thanks!!

both good bows,I think you just have try them out because I think your going to get alot of different answers The major dealer in my area sells bowtech and I tried out the patriot and the black knight I beleive and they were both very quiet and smooth shooting bows but on the other hand I have never shot a mathews so in my case I really liked bowtech and as soon as I can afford one its what i am going to buy. honestly I think the best way to buy a bow is to buy a bow that feels good to you, opinions are nice but you are the person who is going to be shooting it. Good luck and sorry I couldn't be more help in the matthews department.

Rush Creek, I think bowtechs and mathews are about the same price new aren't they? I know mathews hold there value better than or at least as good as any other brand. The reason I said this was because if you get a new bow you will probably by it brand new, otherwise why would you get a used one off ebay if you already have a used mathews? So I would just buy whichever you like best.

when i purchased my bowtech, i shot every mathews, hoyt, martin, and bowtech their was and it came down to the bowtech patriot and the mathews outback.
shot the tow several times and ended up with the patriot and i couldn't be happier with the bow.
to me the two were very comparable but the patriot just felt a little better to me.
both companies make VERY nice bows!

Ok just admit it...you are trying to justify getting a BowTech so you can "fit in" here at bowtech.bbs, aren't you?

IMO, if you are really interested in saving $, the cheapest way to go is keep what you have...then you aren't out a dime. You already have a nice bow and any gain or loss will be nil either way. The deer are just as dead with either bow.

I don't know anything at all about BowTech, but I do own a Matthews LX, and it is the best bow I have ever shot. I made a 50 yard shot on a dow three nights ago, and punched clean through her.(Not a shot I would advise, it was just a perfect setup) I shot a 6 pointer opening day this year at 35 yards, and punched through as well. My shot groups are unbelievable, and the bow is smooth and silent. I owned a PSE Nova before this bow, and it is a completely different animal. Don't get me wrong, the Nova punched through, but had half the speed. I am shooting 318 FPS right now with 500 grains combined (arrow and broadhead). I love my Matthews, and would advise anyone to get one, from the novice to the professional.
Good luck making a decision, there are a lot of outstanding bows out there.

SSG Lohr.....
Sir did you have the military do something special to that LX that we don't know about?
The LX is a very nice bow agreed.....but that puppy isn't doing 318fps @ 500grs unless you slapped a grenade launcher on it.[:-]
The LX is rated at 315fps for 30"/70#/350gr finished arrow and 80% let-off.
(317fps for 30"/70#/350gr finished arrow and 65% let-off)
That is 78ft lbs of Kinetic Energy.
With a 500gr arrow at 318fps You are quoting a number that would give you a Kinetic Energy level of 112ft lbs!![:-]
Even if the finished arrow weight is really 400grs it would mean a level of 90ft lbs of KE.
These are numbers that the LX is simply not capable of.
I state this only as a point of reference and to make sure that you are not misinformed......might want to check the equipment those numbers came from or smack the pro-shop guy in the head.
In now way am I downing your choice of equipment....high performance and a great bow. Just not what you are thinking it is.
