Ok.. BIG 8.. He came down from top of the RIDGE behind and to my left.. I'm lefty.. I couldnt turn to shoot him.. He got closer and looked at my, EYE LEVEL cuz he was up the ridge yet.. He then started going in front and I thot he wasnt looking and I started to turn and he caught me and jump up the hill and blew twice.. He stood about 40 yrds away and then started to come back down.. But then turned and walked away and thats all..
He never smelled me and didnt know what i was..
SHould I go back tomorrow and move my stand 50 yrds or to a different tree and give it a try again tomorrow?
Or should I wait a couple days?
Keep in mind there is another guy that hunts fairly close so.........

If he isn't the only buck in the area then I wouldn't worry much about spooking him. He probably wasn't threatened and therefore shouldn't remember the incident himself. Besides theres probably other bucks in the area that didn't see you.

Your alright. I don't like to go to place twice in a row unless it's super good or I know I can't get back for awhile. Here is where your problem maybe, height. Ridges require higher climbing because of the eye level view on the backside. Take your time adjust you height and shoot a big one.

Mathewsboy,
I have hunted your area and the deer are very jumpy IMO compared to here in the Iron Mountain area. If he didn't wind you you should be alright but like what was said try to camo yourself a little better. When I hunted over your way, if you were winded at all or made a noise they were gone which made it tough for me being from an area wher you can get away with more because there are more people. Where I hunt you can here telephones ringing and kids getting on the bus, dogs barking etc. It is a very wooded area 160 acres but there are a lot of houses aroud the perimeter and more going in. Good luck getting him or another. I know your area is capable of growing nice bucks so go get em!!!
