I also do the idea with the pen works out great.sometimes i will stick them in the corner of a paper target to stick to a hey bail instead of using thumbtacks.

i've had a couple sections of my ground blind poles break due to high wind and i took the chord out, cut my broken arrows to the size of the pole sections, and replaced them so my blind still sets up right. the carbon arrow sections really bend nicely. we don't have to worry about theft out here - knock on wood - and the latch on our basement door, which is outside by where we park, always has a broken arrow through it.

I cut them down and use them as turkey decoy stakes. I'm always dropping or losing my stakes so using broken arrows is a cheap alternative for an expensive habit.

A cut down piece with the insert still installed makes a handy handle when sharpening broadheads.

Add different woods, corn cobs or the like to make strikers for turkey calls ie, slate and glass friction calls.
I do the same, also made a few strikers out of sections from a broken graphite fishing rods.

Something else you can do with them if you are into precision rifle shooting, you can tie a foot long piece of flourescent marker ribbon to one end and stick the other end in the ground and use them for a wind sock, it does work in telling you which direction the wind is blowing, On my property I also use them as yardage markers for my rifle range.

I bet when you need new arrows you say, "Honey, I was thinking about you at work and decided to get you a new present. I will get you a dozen Gold Tip shafts. They are very durable and will hold up well. The sooner I get them the sooner you get them."
