RE: What's your take on scent lock suits????
They are expensive, scratchy and they dont work. In order to really reactivate the charcoal you would have to heat it to 2000 degrees. Not possible in my Kenmore. I was suckered too. Save your cash. If you believe in them for confidence great but the science does not add up. Never gonna fool a bucks nose. We stink. Clean up and hunt the wind is the best you can do.

Researchers have given placebo sugar pills to people with various illnesses, telling them they're the latest, sure-fire cure. Lo and behold, many of those people were cured, just because they BELIEVED the sugar pills were some new medical breakthrough.
Same thing with scent lock. If you believe they work, they work. If you think they're a ripoff, then they're a ripoff. I fall into the 'ripoff' group. |

What good does buying a $300+ gun or bow if you get winded?
I take all the possible precautions I can get. I spent $150 for a Scent-Lock mock turtle neck, ball cap, and pants liner, but I also got to spend $250 for a nice 8-pointer deer mount. Money well spent to me...prepareness equals results. p.s. I also purchased a scent free gun cleaning kit from Walmart, the deer I shot snuck behind me downwind, but didn't wind me. |

what do you guys do about your breath, one of the most offensive smells to a deer? just wondering, btw i never bought into the scent-lok deal, but i do try to be careful and get waaaaaaay up in a tree.

Just finished packing away my hunting clothing, stand , and blind after descenting them. Ready for Fridays opening day!
I beleive that if you use the detergent, spray and bath with the scent free stuff you should be good to go. I have a friend that loves his scentlok. I was going to try it but I have had deer feeding under my stand every year since I started smelling invisible and none of them have whiffed me yet. The other thing is the added weight/warmth factor. It's going to be in the 70's tommorow and I don't feel like sweating my balls off. You have to be comfortable. A friend of mine gave me a military chemical suit which is charcoal filled just like scentlok. Again, it's heavy but I was going to experiment with it during rifle season when it can get very cold. I'll let you know how it works. By the way, I have seen the price range of these suits between $5 - $15 online or at a military surplus. If they work you could get a new one every year! The breath thing is the only thing I am not happy with in my system. Seems to me that it's the missing ingredient. I would like to buy a scentok mask @ $24 just for the confidence factor. What about food? I try to stick with apples and nuts just to smell as natural as possible. No cold pizza or limburger cheese! I also descent my car and trunk and try to dress when I get there. I then spray down the bottom of my burlys before walking to my stand. |

Simple, they're not worth the extra bucks. *my opinion*;)
