RE: What's your take on scent lock suits????
I picked up one this year even though I did not believe in them ( got a great price )I have had deer standing under me and stairing right at me so far this year. They never got even the slightest spooked. The next week I went out with my reg. camo from the same stand and the deer were on alarm the whole time they were near me. Now the wind could have changed some. I do NOW BELIEVE IN THESE SUITS. My biggest reason is you don't have to hunt the wind as much as I use to.
I will follow this up by saying that I believe that the head and face cover are the most important part of the suit. I used my gloves some but can't shoot with them. Boldplate |
RE: What's your take on scent lock suits????
We've all disgussed this same post many times. All I can do share personal experience from using scent lok.
I personally feel we can stack the odds in our favor as bowhunters to elimintate as much human scent as possible. Via , showering, washing clothing, storing cloths properly, spraying down, using baking soda, and wearing a scent lok type fabric. I did the research years ago on scent lok, and started using it in 1998. What a change I saw in animals approaching from downwind, whether it was a bear (great noses and I dont hunt over bait, so bait wasnt enticing them) Elk, and whitetails. I even had a doe and fawn walk up to me on a trail leading into my stand. Sniff at me from arms reach and then feed on by. I was standing there fully prepared in regards to reducing my human scent. It blew me away. My 3-d camo topping my scent lok liner system from head to toe only left my eyeballs exposed and I closed them to a squint as she got really close and sniffed at me. Ok now...why I believe so much in scent lok as a key componet of my personal success....I have harvest some nice mature bucks and bulls ranging from 115's 120's, 130's, 140's and 150's class to a 180 + class grossing 8x8 whitetail ...(pics are in the gallary if your calling bs) and understandably so. Every picture I have in there of myself and my brother are of animals we have taken SINCE we started the hardline system of being scent free and started adding scent lok to that system. Also I hunt Stands over and over and have the same deer do the same things day after day after day.... without alerting them. Its worked for me and the 119.00 was spendy, but not outragous for the entire liner system that I can cover in any layers I chose as the weather gets colder through the year. Shed Below is a decent 120 class grossing buck that came in from straight down wind to some grunting and rattling in late Nov. ![]() |
