RE: strap-on steps, shoe spikes, or climbing stick

We can all agree on safety! But now I'm even more confused. I'm hunting on county/federal land so I can't damage the tree with screw ins. The trees have too many branches for a climber. A hunting friend swears by the strap-on steps. I'll probably go with the EZY because they are easier to pack.

Use the strap-on steps and your safety belt. I've used strap-on steps with a climbing stick for the last 5 years and no problems. Put'em up right and go slow and remember they can roll if you don't put'em on the tree correct.
Stay Safe

If you are able to leave your stand there i would go with the climbing sticks. I use the the summit climbing sticks because they go up 18 feet. The only bad thing about the climbing sticks is that come these ropes you tie it to the tree with. I cut all them things off and baught 4 rachets straps and ratched it to the tree and it works great.

I use the Summit Climbing sticks also and I did the same thing cut the ropes off and use rachet straps, a lot quicker and easier. Then if I need the extra height I use a few strap on steps above the climbing stick.
