PA opener!!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything yet about the PA opener this weekend. Anyone else going out Saturday?

Normally I go to the PA mountains to hunt (3b), however, I will need to stay close to home (5c) as my wife and I are expecting our 2nd child very shortly:). Hopefully, I'll make it to the mountains for the rifle opener.

I am sitting here chewing my fingernails down to the quick waiting for Saturday.

Gear is packed, bow is tuned, stands are set, commmmmmmon Saturday!

Just last week I saw I buck I haven't seen before. A HUGE 8 pointer. Biggest deer I have ever seen in person. While not having gobs of points, this boy was WIIIIIDE, with a body to match.

The bow is all set, washing my hunting clothes tonight, 1 more quick scout for acorns on one of the farms some other evening this week and I'll be able to figure where I am headed for saturday.

I'm ready for the opener! All I have to do is get my clothes washed and watch the weather reports so I can figure out which blind to go to on Saturday morning.
It is like Christmas.... or like Kennywood day when I was a kid...

Joe D.: I hope that baby waits long enough to give you a few days to hunt!

I'm all ready and excited. If this year is the same as past years though I'll be gung ho and see nuthing but does and fawns til the end of October.
I'm still excited about being in the woods with the means to kill. I hope the weather is cool and overcast because I might see something if it is.

I was just looking at the local forecast and monday looks like the day to be in your stand. A high of 52, and a chance of rain. The deer should be moving good. I can't wait.

I'm going to miss the first week due to a long overdue vacation to Oak Island, NC for a fishing trip. I'm still excited for when I return there will be 5 weeks of nothing but hunt, hunt and hunt some more. I will be going out every evening and Saturdays. I will be taking the last 2 weeks, off work, to hunt the rut.

We're on chompin on the bit waiting. There is buzz about it in the Northeast Regional forums on this site. I hear it's going to rain in my area on Saturday but a cold front is moving in so that's good. I love to hunt in the rain as long as it's not hard.....and a cold front, couldn't ask for more.
