Default bow grip

I took the grip of my bow this evening and the bow felt a lot more comfortable gripping the bow off the riser, I think the factory grip was too thick and I couldn't get a comfortable grip which was causing me to torque the bow. anyone ever shoot off the bare riser. did it solve their torque problem.

That's the way Kirk Ethridge does it. So it can't be too bad!

My Hoyt has a very small grip and I like it very much. I think it does help to avoid torquing the bow. Never tried it off the riser, but the same principle would apply it seems.

I've experimented with the same thing on my MQ1. Gripping the riser has yielded far better accuracy than the factory grip. The riser is not only MUCH thinner, but provides a slightly lower wrist angle on my bow. The riser isn't as comfortable to handle as a finished grip, so I'm trying out a Shrewd grip, which is a highly regarded aftermarket grip. Mine should arrive in the mail within the week.

I also shoot an mq1 and took my grip off.I wrapped it with tennis racket grip and i am impressed with my accuracy. The tape made it more comfortable without adding lots of bulk.

If you ever get around the people who really know what they are doing (pro's) you'll most likely see quite a few that either shoot right off the riser or have custom grips. The less contact you make with the bow the better.
