RE: Another homemade scent killer thread
I agree, it just may do that, but that brings up a thought I had last year, and still do... Why doesn't the added earth scent, woodland scent, etc. get neutralized in the commercial brands as well? I'm sure it has to do with chemical reactions somehow, but it's just a thought. |
RE: Another homemade scent killer thread
If you are looking for stronger peroxide, goto your local beauty supply and buy a quart of 20 vol clear developer. This is 6% by volume(2 times stronger than the 3% brown bottle). 30 volume is also available. This high vol per can cause burns on your skin, becareful! As for 100% peroxide, you will not be able to purchase it because it is EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS!!!

RE: Another homemade scent killer thread
1 gallon distilled water (or clean creek water, just no chlorines or iodines in it)
1/2 box of baking soda 16 oz peroxide 2 shot glasses of Hunters Specialty green liquid soap Pour out enough water from a gallon jug to get the other stuff in and let it fizz for a while after mixing (about 1 hour or the top will pop off). Then just transfer to a spray bottle and you're set. Note: Use an opaque bottle to make and store it in. Apparently, peroxide turns to water when light hits it, a fact I wasn't initially aware of. |
RE: Another homemade scent killer thread
Thats an interesting article about scent killers. One thing I noticed in the article was that the ingredient Triclosan used in some scent neuturalizing products is hazardous and should not be used on bare skin. If you read the active ingredient on the green HS soap/body wash, it is triclosan... Hafta wonder...

RE: Another homemade scent killer thread
How big of a box of baking soda are you using? I used a 1/2 of a 4lb box and have alot of baking soda at the bottom of my gallon container. Is too much baking soda a bad thing?

RE: Another homemade scent killer thread
Nevermind I finally found the thread with the right amounts in it. It's 8oz per gallon. OOPS. I'm going to save the good stuff from on top. My mixture still smells like the soap, is that how yours smells?

RE: Another homemade scent killer thread
So, do you dump the full 16oz of peroxide in?
