I have never grunted or ratttled in a deer, but I was wondering what your method is if the deer comes running in and your bows still hanging and you have to put your call or antlers away? Seems like you'd have to make a quick movement and spook the deer?

The first deer I called in, a young button, came running in full charge and stopped on a dime right below my stand before i could even put the call down - talk about unprepared. It was all I could do to not laugh out loud and send him running back. I don't know if it was really that funny or I was just so happy that the grunt call worked but I got a kick out of it.
Now I have my bow ready and in hand when I call. Also, I tie the rattle bag or antlers to the tree so I can reach it with only 1 hand and let them go quickly when needed.

What about tryin one of those hands free grunt calls that clip on to your shirt? That way you can call and have your bow ready at the same time. I have only tried grunting and rattling once. The first time i rattled i heard one coming in hard through the thicket but i never saw him, he must have picked me up before i saw him.
