Who as actually taken a deer with a bow?
I would be interested to know, who has, and who hasn't. I believe the percentages will show that most haven't. Let's see........
I have not. Just started bow hunting last year. Shot a doe, couldn't find her.

I have taken 6 bucks and 1 doe with a bow in 9 years of bow hunting. My first buck ever was with a bow after hunting with a shotgun for 5 years and seeing nothing but does.
I have taken 2 bucks one year and been skunked 3 years. I was skunked last year, but the year before shot an 8pt buck, tom turkey with a 7" beard and a red fox. Nice trifecta!
Edit to add...one of the years I was skunked I hit and lost 2 deer. The only 2 I haven't recovered.

20+ years of hunting. 17+ years with X number of bow kills. I've slowed in the last several years because I no longer feel like dealing with the kill.
Hang in there and keep trying. It took me three years before I had my first kill with a bow. Keep talking with others and soon you'll find yourself passing up bigger deer then you have killed already waiting for the one.

I killed my first deer with a bow about 4 years ago, since then i usually take about 2 or 3 a year. I didnt get any last season, i missed 2 but i didnt hunt much.

I took a buck the first day I hunted with a bow. I was 15. Needless to say I was hooked for life. I took a decent 8 a few years later with a bow, too.
I then realized that taking a buck early in the year ended my buck hunting for the year in PA. Now I am very picky in bow season and have passed on countless bucks over the years. I enjoy buck hunting with rifle at my camp in the mountains of PA too much to end it so soon over a small buck in October.
