RE: Need quiver recommendation
tealboy if your looking to get away from a bow mounted quiver then i would recommend a cat quiver from cabela's or most other sporting goods shops it is a backpack quiver and they come in different sizes. ive been using the cat quiver2 for 3 years and will never go back to a bow mounted quiver

RE: Need quiver recommendation
As far as being versatile, the Kwikee quiver offers a hip quiver bracket... one that lets you go from the bow, or from the stand, right onto your belt. No tools required. It has a pivot that lets you choose the angle the quiver rides as you walk, letting you turn it in any direction to keep your arrows at the ready. This also permits the arrows be canted in such a way to prevent them from being caught on brush... which is a good feature when hunting different types of terrain / cover. You just slip it over your belt like a knife sheath and away you go. I have all threee brackets... one on the bow, one on my stand and one for the hip quiver and can use my same quiver for all types of hunting. Kwikee also offers special inserts to hold any type of arrow... from the smallest diameter carbon shaft to the biggest aluminum logs. They even offer inserts specifically for mechanical heads. It works really well and I can't honestly think of any drawbacks. You can still opt to leave it on the bow and shoot too. It's not in the way and is pretty quiet. What's not to like about that?

RE: Need quiver recommendation
I always used a 2 piece quiver attached while in the stand with no problems and I probably still would but I upgraded to a new bow and started flecthing my own arrows with white vanes, wraps and nocks for better post-shot visibility. So I'm thinking I don't want a quiver full of white arrows flashing around the stand when the rest of me is covered in camo. I bought the Alpine 5 arrow and have no problems with 5 Muzzy 4-blades. and it quickly detaches from bow to tree. And it DOES make the bow quieter when attached because of the softloc bracket. So I like the quiver attached but I don't want to get busted.

RE: Need quiver recommendation
Update: I called Alpine Archery to ask why in the world they advertise and sell a 3 arrow quiver that doesn't hold three arrows. The guy was helpful and admitted it was tight, but suggested I slide one of the arrow grippers down from the top (near the hood) to the bottom. He said this will allow enough adjustment to make the three broadheads fit. It will be tight, but it won't rub. I also told him I could not punch the broadhead thru the foam and he said they came out with a lower density foam and would send it to me free.
I guess they are still working out a few kinks, but maybe this quiver will work afterall. It wasn't inexpensive at $35, so if it doesn't work, it sounds like i can trade for a Quickee at almost 1/2 the cost and be happy. |
RE: Need quiver recommendation
I like the Kwikee Quiver. Like mentioned above it's easily removed or attached. I does make a little noise, you must make sure your arrows are snug and tight! I shoot with mine on and off and don't notice any differenct in my groups but it can induce some torque if placed farther away from riser. I've got mine mounted on a Cobra Easy Slide Extreme so it's mounted farther away from the riser making it a little off balance. It's a nice quiver though a little cheap also.

RE: Need quiver recommendation
Definitely the Kwickee quiver. You can get really tiny 3 arrow quivers or compact sized 6 arrow quivers. They are virtually indestructable; easy to install and use and the extra bracket is really convenient for screwing into your tree beside your stand so you can just hang your quiver on the tree beside you for easy reaching if you need that second arrow. They are economically priced too.
