Here's the picture that I was going to post. ;) You can see how close the No-Peep is to my sight light but so far I've not had a problem with not enough light getting into the No-Peep.

Did you use the bracket that came with the No-peep? I noticed they had more than one bracket for sale on the website so I hope I don't have to end up ordering some oddly shaped bracket to make it fit, LOL.

Yep, I used the bracket that comes with the No-Peep. I had no problems.

where's jollyarcher when you need him? :)

he had a very informative post a while back on shooting without a peep (or a no-peep.) i'm planning on trying his technique for NEXT season. (i'm already set for this year.)

maybe he will see this and chime in...
Oooh oooh... *hand raised* Here I is! Pick me... Pick me! :D Lemme see if I can find the link to that thread I posted on. Gimme a sec and I'll copy / paste sumpin' here...

Here's the link I commented on about going peepless... click the link and be sure to scroll down on both pages. There's a couple comments and a couple pics for reference posted there too.

Thanks but I beat you to it, LOL. I did a search under your name right after I read that post from sho-me_bhntr and read it. Informative but I am trying to get away from putting things on my string so a kisser button is not what I want. I know it's silly but I want to see what this bow will do when optimized for speed and the kisser will take away 4 or 5 fps. I will not sacrifice accuracy for speed though so if the no-peep doesn't work for me, I will try your way.

AAARGH! I AM AN IDIOT!

I got the No-Peep in yesterday and couldn't wait for Monday to have my pro-shop guy put it on. I mean, it isn't rocket science, right?

Well, I stripped out the damn screw hole in my riser. Now, I will either have to get it drilled and re-tapped or maybe use a longer screw and go all the way through the riser and put a nut on the other side. I bought some 1 and 1/4 inch machine screws that should be long enough. I guess I will try that first. I can't believe I did this to my #$*@#@ new bow! I am so beyond pissed at myself.

I didn't think I was putting so much torque on those screws (that hold the sight and no-peep brackets to the riser). It was WAY too easy to do. I don't know how these pro-shop guys tighten these things all the time without stripping them. My guy really looks like he puts muscle in to it. I just tightened with my little pocket allen tool and BAM, stipped right on out.

Hornbow....see if you can get a healer coil to repair that stripped hole. Should be able to pick one up at any good hardware store...........dabow

I think the dabowhunter means a Heli-coil. I've used them in a kit form, available at most auto parts stores. They come in all sizes and allow you to maintain the original thread diameter so the original size fastener can be used. The kits have a tap, an expander tool and heli-coil inserts.

Now, I've not used them on archery gear, but have had good success with them in automotive applications, especially aluminum. I'd vote against boring a hole through your riser to add a nut to hold the bracket. The only other way, if the hole is that badly stripped, would be to drill and tap it to the next larger size. I'd use a drill press if you go this route, just to keep things running true.

RE: eliminating my peep sight

Good news. The damage isn't as bad as I first thought. With the extra width of the no-peep bracket, the screw wasn't really long enough and only the first 2 or 3 threads were engaging. That is why it was so easy to strip. Fortunately, Bowtech taps threads all the way through the riser so by just running in a 10-24 tap to clean up the threads and using a longer screw, the problem was fixed.

I really have to say my archery shop is the greatest. They are closed on Sunday but I called him up anyway to ask some questions and he let me bring it in anyway. He looked it over, identified the problem and fixed it for no charge. He even re-served my string (factory serving was already beginning to separate?), let the draw length out 1/2" and re-tuned my bow. Now that's service, LOL.

I bet he reads this website so now he will no who I am ;)

Now another question about the no-peep itself: I have it adjusted vertically so that when I draw my bow, anchor, and touch my nose to the string, it is OK vertically but it needs to swing right a little to give me that perfect bull's-eye. There doesn't seem to be any windage adjustment however. How do you adjust it right-left?

There is an adjustment on the right side of the No-Peep. A tiny threaded screw that you move in/out for windage. If you need to adjust the No-Peep to the right then you'd turn the screw counter clockwise. I'd recommend adjusting 1/4 turn at a time since a little goes a long way.

Aaaah, so THAT is what that little allen wrench is for that came with it. Thanks. Can't wait to get home and work on it, LOL. being stuck at work sucks; I should be out in the woods. :D
