Rests
OK here is the deal I am having rest issues. I went to a shoot this past weekend and my rest has fallen and I can not get the damn thing to stay up. I have had numersous problems with this particular rest. Does anyone have a rest that they may recommend that is simple and dependable?

RE: Rests
I am not sure if you are using standard style tm hunter style rests or drop-aways but im using the NAP quicktune 3000 and I love it.I think next year I may try a drop-away myself as alot of people on this board swear by them:)

What rest are you using?never heard of a rest that wont stay up.Is the screw stripped or the thread in the riser.Try a little loc-tite on the screw and snug it down firmly.Hope this helps:) |
RE: Rests
I'm still pretty new, but I've had no problems at all with my NAP Quick Tune 3000 either.

RE: Rests
If it's the standard TM style of rest it sounds that maybe the spring is gone or has come out of place.

RE: Rests
There are numerous rests I would suggest.
What attributes are you looking for in a rest? That would narrow it down a bit[8D] |
RE: Rests
I truly think the trophy Taker fall away is one of the most simple and easy rest to use.
Shoot all competions and hunt with mine for over three years. |
RE: Rests
Bodoodle Pro 500 and the Bodoodle Pro Lite....after years of competition 1000's of shots, and rest changes, I'll never shoot anything else. IMHO.

RE: Rests
Hey Rob I checked out your rest and I unfortunately can not see myself spending that much for my rest but they looked special.
What I am looking for can be narrowed down in three choices one, looking for something that is easy to work with I dont need that continual tinkering. Two, is it dependable out in the field. Third, is it under 80 bucks. Things are tight around here so that house I am planning to upgrade to has put a pinch on the wallet! |
RE: Rests
Get it a Medic Alert Bracelet. I had this same problem with my grandma, and this helped tremendously!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Just Kidding! |
RE: Rests
Going by what you said I would suggest a Whisker Biscuit. They are extremely simple to use, very reliable and take little tuning to get them set up. You naver have to worry about your arrow falling off the rest and they are around 50.00. Personally I shoot a Muzzy but I have a few relatives that use WB's and love them. There are also alot of other members on here that also use them and have had alot of success with them. Here is a link to them on Cabelas site if you want to check them out. Good Luck.

RE: Rests
If you shop you might be able to find the Bodoodle Pro Lite for under $80.....available in black would be less expensive.

WHISKER BISCUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

RE: Rests
I am a HUGE fan of the Whiscker Biscuit!!! Your arrow can not fall off of the rest!!! Some say you lose speed with the WB, however I do not see the difference. My bow is extremely fast at 30 yards, and that is the max. I will take a shot. If you are looking for a great rest that will eliminate your problems, get a Whiscker Biscuit!!!

RE: Rests
I've got to agree with the past three posts. Whisker Bisket sounds like the rest for you. After having several other rests I "tried" the Bisket on a buddies bow. Two days later I had one on mine and I couldn't be happier. That was 4 years ago and I've never had one problem with it. It slowed my arrow about 3fps. Not enough to make a difference in my book. Try one and I think you will agree. Those that are "against" the whisker probably haven't tried one.

RE: Rests
I use a trophy taker fall away, and once its set up it works great. However, the arrow does not stay on the rest and can be a pain to not pull off the rest at cruch time. Bottom line, if I had to do it over ( and I may) it would be a whisker bisket.

RE: Rests
Muzzy Zero Effect.

RE: Rests
To make a profound statement, I will have to agree with the guys using the whisker biscuit. There may be a better rest out there but you can't go wrong with the wb.

RE: Rests
I've gotten six years of use and over 50,000 shots on an original whisker biscuit arrowrest. The hole in the center of this rest is still round and the rest will probably last another 50,000 shots. The whisker biscuit is quiet, accurate, and they stay in tune. And they always work.
Good luck hunting! Don't forget to vote! |
RE: Rests
I have shot a lot of drop aways always trying to find something better and each time, I end up going back to my NAP QT4000. I wanted a rest that held an arrow securely, one that was quiet and one that was simple to setup. For me anyway, it was the QT4000. I liked the trophy taker, but I had a lot of trouble setting it up and getting it just right. And now, my buddy is having the same problem with his. I don't like to fuss with equipement too long to get it just right because if you're in the field and have a problem with it, it'll take you that much longer to get it reset.
Of all of the dropaways, I personally recommend either the Quicktunes, or the Muzzy Zero Effect, especially for hunting. |
