"Beautiful buck. Congrats to your friend....now get out there and show him up!"
I'll do my best. Yes, Alberta buck. Yes, sharp quartering away, went in far back, muzzy on xx78 superslam stuck up against front shoulder through lung. Went 90 yrds. That guys stacks em tighter at 60 than i can at 40 by at least an inch...and i'm not that horrible a shot. He grew up with bow in hand and spent much of his life as a guide, lots way up north sheep etc. but one of the best, no, the best, archer i've seen yet. He won the last 3d he entered and his score with pins was higher than the scoped class. I've never shot a 3d, and he only does it every few years for fun and then gets back to hunting. Thats an 03 conquest 3 bow, spot hogg, trophy taker, scott rope release i believe. He was in a bale blind he built. I helped him find him in the rain that night, we were 2 miles away hunting and waited for him to come out and then went in to help him find, its a needle in a haystack in the middle of the night and the rain started in as soon as we started so lost blood after about 20' we were soaked but persistant. In day time we would have found him in 5 minutes but at night its a whole nuther world. I found him, 3 of us searching and only took us about 45 minutes in those conditions. The blind was in a bit of a depression so he lost sight shortly after hit, went over rise and from there could have gone into trees or through field. We were searchin in the trees but he piled up right at a barbwire fence in tall grass, probable went by him at 5 yrds a couple times but impossible to see at night. Anyhow was a spectacular start to the season. Right after he shot the deer another big 4x4 stepped out that he figured had another 10" on that deer but he's super happy anyhow. I have a long ways to go to show him up. I took a 5x4 last season with 19" spread but not heavy and not high, might got 125, but i liked him, he was boss, i passed on two deer that would have out scored him but i just wanted him. He kicked the crap outta both of the deer i passed on. Anyhow, my goals are high this year, i'm going for booner with a bow so i may not get one, they are there, but they are smart. We'll know more in a couple months. Wish me luck. Hope that answers most of the questions, fire away if there are more. Good luck to all this season. Oh yeah, most his stuff was still back in bale blind, including his arrows if anyone curious, he had a few back ups leaned up against blind for faster retrieval if needed. That should do it. Cheers
