Mu buddy has 20 or so bucks in his pen, and half are completely out of velvet, a couple are shedding now, and the rest are still in full velvet.

He said it is like this every year. Sometimes it takes 6 weeks for them all to shed once one starts.

Was out hunting last week and had a smaller 5x4 come in with full velvet on yet. I would imagine that the bigger bucks have the velvet off already but i never got a look at one yet since august. Usually by the second week in september here all of the bucks are shined up good.

It's not uncommon for deer to shed through the month of September. Generally the will start to shed at the end of August and that may lest for better then a month. If they are still in velvet be happy. They are still growing a little

Here in Neb saw two 5 x 5's in velvet on the property last week. They were totally unalarmed at my 30 yard presence as well. I bet that changes come Sept 15.

I took my first bow kill ever last wednesday. It was a good size spike in velvet. Now all I have to do is figure out how to preserve the velvet.

I was doing some field watching last night (in Wisconsin). I saw a few bucks. One dandy 10 pointer looked clean and polished, while a smaller fork or 6 pointer (too far out to tell) was still in velvet. I think it can go either way this time of year.
