That made me fall out of my chair!:D

I spent about $3000 this year on everthing I need. This was my first year so it was expensive. The only thing I need to buy yearly are licenses so I'm all set.

I remember fishing once in a small john boat i rented , and i nailed a 38 inch Northern. As i was pulling in to unload for the day, a guy with a playboy bunny looking gal came in and started boinking his $50,000 bass boat at me to move now or else. Well being a pretty stubborn fellow, i just lifted my fish out oh so slowly, and i swear his jaw dropped and his eyes bulged. Well you know the rest of the story= it is not the quantity, but the quality.

Now that I think about it I guess my main point wasn't so much as how much money you spend but rather buying everything new again year after year just so you have the absolute best of everything with you at all times and look really good in the woods even though you don't need half the stuff you lug out with you.:D;)

hey, if I had the dough, I'd spend it too. It's all priorities. Personally, I buy the best I can afford and take care of it so it lasts. Think about it, hunters of all type have been harvesting game for a long time before all this new technology existed.

Way too many people in this world, worry way too much about what other people are spending. There is nothing wrong with having money. The way I see it, there are to many poor folks trying to look rich, and too many rich folks trying to look poor, and the rest of us who don't give a dam. What somebody spends on their gear is nunmybiznez.

Muley, you missed my point completely. I restated that it isn't what you spend that I was talking about so much as what we call "pretty boys". I know there are people who spend thousands a year just on licenses and that has nothing to do with this, heck if I could afford it I would too. What I'm talking about is those people who are out every year in brand new everything just so they look good rather than worry about if they need it or not. I also never said I care what other people spend, actually I could give a $%^& if they spend their lifes savings on hunting gear. That doesn't mean I don't get a kick out of it when I see this guy trudging through the woods lugging along half of Cabelas in a 200 pound back pack looking like a walking store display.:D:D It's just something that I noticed with a few members at our camp (and they know it's true:D) and I was just wondering if anyone else had friends like this.;)

Hey, they are spending money supporting the sport we love!
All those dollars keep the wheels turning in our favor. Without the economic benefits of hunting we would have more politicians breathing down our necks. The companies that produce these goods have a huge lobby in government circles to watch out for their, and consequently our, best interest. If you have the money, there are alot worse things you could pick to apply it on. The great thing about this sport is that there is room for all. You can spend a fortune or next to nothing on a yearly basis and still have just about the same chance for success.

Some years are better than others. This year I bought a new bow and set it up but before that I hadn't bought a bow or much of anything in the last 10 years. Now I've got my new set up it'll likely be another 10 years before I spend any real cake again..
