Default Film your own Hunts?

Does anyone film their own hunts? Me and a friend started filming ourselves with camcorders last year, got 5 bowkills on camera and some nice footage. We use the Gorilla Camera Arm and a small Camcorder. Just for you guys that don't like mechanical broadheads, I have footage to prove that the Shockwave mechs are awesome!! And yes, filming yourself does add a whole new degree of difficulty!!! Let me know if any of you film your own hunts and what equipment you use to do it with?

I have a hunting partner that we've filmed our hunts for years....we have a dozen whitetail taken on film and more than a dozen spring gobblers....your right, it adds a difficult element to hunting and you have to have a partner your not jealous about if he's the shooter when a booner comes in.......

We've used the top of the line Sony handicams but have since stepped up to GL1's and GL2's....

Ive been filming hunts for a few years now, and last year i got a Extreme Shot camera mount for my stands,, and i filmed myself more than anything,, and last year i guess i got four kills on tape,, for now im using a simple rca small camcorder,, but have decided to get a Gl-2, but would like to know how good they work, Rob/PA BOWYER if you could give any info it would be appreciated. it does add a new twist to your hunts, but i love the challenge of it,, still waiting to get a real monster taken on tape,, the largest is a 110 inch eight pointer late last season, taken by a friend whom i got into bowhunting,, his first bowkill, so it was really special.

I would also like some info on the Gl-2. We don't buddy film, we actually film ourselves: hunter and cameraman all in one!!! Causes for some moments of anxiety!

My two brothers and I started messing around filming each other in 1992, but didn't really get serious until 3 years ago. I've tried it both ways, filming myself, and a two man team. The team approach works much better, but I have gotten a few on film myself. The GL-2 is a great camera, and the one that I use. I sure does make it harder, but it's alot of fun too. I take my camera every time I go out.

As much as I love video taping my hunts, I could never justify a 2800 dollar camera like the GL-2.. Unless I was making money on the videos...

I've given thought about recording some of my hunts. Even if I don't necessarily connect I think it would be great to capture wildlife on film. How do you guys move the camera around and focus on getting a shot at the same time? I can see if you have the camera in a fixed position through a shooting lane. Just seems like it could be a big distraction worrying about the camera.

matthewsboy,, thats my ultimate goal, for filming my hunts,, ive gotten some great footage on tape, both with taking animals, or just filming animal behavior, or odd things happening in the woods. But all of my footage is on vhs format, and to sell videao or submit it for professional quality videos,, you have to have a good camera,, so soon as i get the money i hope to get the gl-2, so maybe i can pay for it in a few years.

Jeramy k-- most of what ive done has been filming myself,, and yes it is very hard to concentrate on the shot, and getting quality footage,, it is much better to have two people, so you can concentrate on the shot, but i dont always have someone else, and its easier to blow an opportunity, with two people in a tree, twice as much movement, twice as much scent, and two big blobs in the sky instead of one,, either way it is much harder to get good footage, but its well worth it.

If you film your own hunts you need to checkout www.dillonoutdoors.com They have an awesome product called the Superarm for filming. It is by far way superior then any other camer arm on the market!!

I have started filming my hunts as well! I love it. I have a Canon ZR90 camera and the pro bow cam arm. I have the arm attached to my rail on my climber. I have 2 misses on tape, no kills yet. Also on one of my misses there was blood everywhere but I knew i missed, no blood on arrow just a bit of hair. We looked for 8 hours until dark, 4 of us and no deer. I knew I missed, when I got home I watched the video and found out the deer behind the doe I shot at already had an arrow sticking out of it!!!!!!!! Talk about confused!
You guys are right, it is hard to TRY and film yourself! Good luck!
