Default Pass thru %

What percentage of your deer kills have been pass thrus?

I just tallied mine and suprisingly it only comes out to 54%. I hit lots of opposite shoulders.

When I was shooting 2216's and 2219's aluminum arrows 100% were passthruoghs. Now with carbon arrows my % dropped to about 60%.

A better question is what is your kill and recovery ratio. If you puncture both lungs but dont make a clean pass it doesnt matter.

Untill last year it was 100% . Last year I shot a doe and the arrow loged in the off shoulder . She fell over and could not get up , a easy trail to follow! Now its about 98%

I've shot somewhere around 80 deer with the bow. It's been a lot higher percentage than the 50 you folks are passing around. Take the last 3 years alone. I've shot 6 or 7 every year and only had one that was a non-pass through. Even in my old recurve days with fixed cut to the tip heads it was at least 50 percent. Most of the few that have not been were at longer ranges and hit the off shoulder dead square in the toughest spot. In fairness, my old recurve shots were all less than 20 yards. I try to shoot a sharp broadhead, flying true on the tip of a heavy arrow. I'm now shooting the lightest arrow I've ever shot, 425 grains with fixed heads at 265 fps. My last set up was 525 at 252 with the same heads. A decent shot will pass through.

I would say around 90 percent the only shots that have not have been spine shots directly under me or lodging in the far shoulder.

The past 4 years, 100%.

Oh, nevermind, we're talking bows, 0% never shot at a deer with a bow and arrow, yet.

I wish I kept better records then i have over the years. If I had to wager a bet I'd guess better then 80% are pass through but then I've been shooting 70+lbs for as long as I can remember.
