Default scentlok cleaning

I went ahead and bought a set of scentlok clothes this year to see for myself if it works.

Do I need to wash them before I use them? there are not any good directions for getting started. I have heard that I needed to clean them first, but not sure. And what should they be washed in? I would like not just normal non-scented soap or backing soda.

From what I've read you should heat them up to 3000 deprees or so and them they should be like new

Sorry I couldn't resist. I've never washed a scent lok product so I'm no help.

I belive your just supposed to dry them first. Not sure what suit you have though. If you have a zip out carbon lining, then just dry that and wash the fabric. If it is all one peice, then I would wash the whole suit and dry it. Then store in plastic bag or tubberware.

Q: Can I wash my Scent-Lok Suit?

A: Yes. You can wash Scent-Lok products but this is not a necessary step in the activation process. Washing does not harm the activated carbon but it may loosen some excess carbon. You only need to wash Scent-Lok clothing if it becomes extremely dirty or under extreme use in the field. Garments worn close to the skin or in hot weather will need to be washed more often. Machine wash on gentle cycle, cold water with non-scented sports wash or a carbon clothes wash approved by Scent-Lok such as Scent-Lok Premium Clothes Wash. Under normal use Scent-Lok clothing can be washed 1 to 2 times a season. Garments worn close to the skin may require more frequent washings.

On new suits all you should have to do is throw it in the dryer on the hottest setting for 1/2 - 1 hour. The only time you should ever have to put it in the wash is if it gets real dirty or bloody. I wash mine maybe once a year ,but I throw it in the dryer after every 2-3 hunts, depending on conditions. Never had a problem with them. Don't forget your head gear and gloves. Good Luck and Good Hunting.

When I got mine, perhaps 8 years ago, it was reccomended that I soak it in cold water for 10- 15 minutes and then dry in the clothes dryer. This was to loosen up the cotton fabric that the Scent-Lok was made of at the time. I only spray it down on the outer shell of the stuff now with odor destroying spray and then throw it in the dryer. I've never washed mine, but they now make scent-free laundry detergents just for carbon clothing.

Dryer is all you need and as already posted go to Scent-lok's website for the answers.
