My buddies and I have an annual archery contest every year and I was looking for ideas as to what type of contests and set-ups we could have. The more creative, the better. We usually do it in groups of 2. I've though of the pendulum water balloon and the cinder block shot, through the holes. Any others?

Put an apple on your buddy's head. Choose the big head as the other one might be too risky

Cinder block seems like a good idea until you hit it. Pendulum water baloon is cool too. Could try some of the goofy crap the real tree boys pull in the Monster Bucks movies. Super long shots, Hang a deer target high up in a tree, put a target on a skateboard and push it, etc etc. Sounds pretty fun. Let us know the results

As far as the cinder block, its basically a risk shot. You can take it or not. But you are rewarded for getting an arrow through at 20 yds. If you miss, you lose an arrow and we all laugh

Rolling Buck. I made a platform for my 3d target with two 2x4's and a couple 9 inch carrage bolts to slide decoy legs onto.Then put wheels on it. Either pull it with rope or roll it down a hard surface. Remember safety !!!

Put out a target and everyone line up. put the target at an undertermined distance. Use a quarter sized dot. Each guys shoots at the dot in successon.

#1 shoots- if he hits the dot. Done - pull out the arrow next guy shoots.
If #1 misses the dot. #2 shoots if he hits the dot - #1 is out, pull arrows #3 shoots.
IF #2 misses #3 shoots if he hits #1 & #2 are out. and so on and so on.

Each time someone hits the dot you pull out the arrows and anyone that missed is out. When we used to all shoot XX75s we would shoot for arrows, but now everyone is different and we shoot for money.

Usually you put in $1 or $5 each and the winner takes all.

Each time you move the target so that the distance is different.

I always liked the really long shots where you can only see the head of the target because it's over a hill about 40 yards away. You put your 40 yard pin right on the hill (which is 20 yards away) and the arch in your arrow contours the hill so you miss the hill and still hit the vitals even though you can't see them.

Ping pong ball floating on air....you'll need a vacuum like a shop vac that blows air, float the ping pong ball at what ever distance you wish....a great novilty shoot.

We've also played games that mimic basketball like horse....each shooter takes turn being first, calls the shot and the others must follow the mark or get a letter until you spell the word and your out.

Tic Tac Toe.....you'll need to make the target.....

You can also use a blow Dryer for the ping pong ball shot. Its a little easier.

Take a block target and hang it from a tree like a tire swing. give it a push and let the arrows fly.
