Lost a friend
I wanted to share with my bowhunting friends:
I lost a good friend last night over in Iraq. His Humvee hit a land mine killing him instantly and injuring 2 others under his command. I'm not sure of all the details since nothing has been published yet - just what the Army told his wife who then told us. I do know that his remains will be buried at Arlington as per his request. Mike and I served together in Hawaii for a couple of years. He was in one of my scuba classes that I volunteered at, assistant teaching. He instantly became part of our diving family and soon after we started having classes at his beach house on North Shore in Hawaii. After I left the Army and returned home to Illinois he married a woman that came through the volunteer diving program that he helped carry on. Mike (da ruskie) served 1 tour in Afghanistan and was on his 2nd tour in Iraq. Mike leaves behind a large loving family who were honored to know him. Please help me pray that his family makes it through this tough time and for all the soldiers in harm's way, a safe return! Hazcon7 aka Mike (da krust) |

Sorry to hear about the loss. I can think of no more honorable way to go than giving your life for your country. Your friend is truely a hero in my opinion. My prayers go out to his family and love ones.

Mike & his family will be in my thoughts and prayers... I thank Mike, and all of our Military and their families for the sacrifices they make for us, for protecting our freedoms, and for taking the fight to those who wish ill upon our great country! God Bless, and may he rest in peace. |

I'm sorry to hear that we lost another brave soldier. My condolences and prayers go to all his family and friends. My gratitude and thanks to all (and to their families) who serve, sacrifice, and defend the rights and freedoms of the American people. It is people like him that make our country a great nation.

I'm not sure what to say except I'm sorry for your loss. I give my Condolences to your friends family. They will be in my thoughts.

My thoughts and prayers go out to yours and his families. I have been there and lost friends in this war as well,just remember he gave his life to protect our children,and that alone makes him a hero.

Iam truley sorry for your loss, My sympathy's go out to you and his family, He is a true hero in my book! We must always remember that people like Mike and thoes who fought alongside him make this great country what it is! Sometimes we all take for granted what we have, and what others have fought for, when you read this Please take a moment to think about the other men and momen still over there fighting, and realize what we have.............................................. .............................

Hazcon7 i lost a friend last month to the war.. its tough. i still think about him all the time.. we were best friends in highschool and through college and also my best man in my wedding. i still talk to his wife on a daily basis. its hard. but one thing that helped me was reaching out to his Family. i take his youngest brother fishing all the time now and he reminds me of his brother all the time. he will live on through the memories of you and his family.

My loss is nothing compared to his - I'm just happy to have known him. As soldiers we all know the risks and each of us volunteered for the challenge. The men and women who have served past and present are owed a graditude that we can never fully give them. The closest we can come is to honor them by sharing their stories and for a few moments help feel their pain. I honor Mike by sharing a portion of his story. You have honored him by listening and for a few moments feeling his pain. Thank you! |

Please let his whole family know that we mourn his lose and that we are proud of every one of our troops over there. I thank God daily that my son came home in one piece from the war and from Afghanistan, I am hoping he will not be sent back, right now he is considered undeployable due to severe shoulder problems caused by a combination of football injuries and humping not only a normal pack, but a radio and batteries as a bonus.
Give his widow a hug from me and let her know her lose is felt by many who never even met him. |

I hear people talk about their heroes "Michael Jordan, Roger Clemens, etc...
I teach my kids that true American Heroes are guys like you Haz and your buddy. My families heart goes out to you your friends family. We appreciate and respect your brave service to protect our country and "We will never take it for granted!" God Bless America! |

Words cannot express the feelings I have when I hear about fellas like Mike. There is no doubt that they are giving us future freedom that we might not have if it were not for their brave actions!!!

I too have lost good friends over their since this whole thing started..........however some of those kids i enlisted in the marine corps when they were just pups. I still talk to there families and go and see them, god bless all of his loved ones.

My condolences...Mike's loved ones will be kept in my prayers. After all, this is the least I can do for a man that fought for this great country. If it weren't for him and many others, who knows, we might not even be able to bowhunt. Take care!!!

I salute him and his family for the sacrafice to keep us free. I didn't see if he had kids but he does have a wife, Sean Hannity has been holding freedom concerts to raise funds for our fallen heros. This is for assistance to the families and help with college tuition. I'm not sure where to start with this but his web site is:

N.J. soldier dies in Najaf fight New York Daily News BY LEO STANDORA DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER An Armed Forces commander from New Jersey has been killed in the U.S. offensive against militants in the Iraqi city of Najaf. Capt. Michael Yury Tarlavsky, 30, of Passaic, died in a hail of small-arms fire Thursday as he led Iraqi police trainees in a fight with militants who had blown up a school, authorities said yesterday. Tarlavsky's mother, Rimma, said the family came to the U.S. from Israel when her son was only 5, "but no one loved this country more than Michael did. He was proud of America and he was was proud of his men." Being notified of her son's death "was like having your heart ripped out. I can't describe the pain," she said. She said her daughter-in-law, Tricia, a former Army captain herself who married Michael just two years ago, was too distraught to talk. The couple have an 11-month-old son, and had just bought their own house. "Michael E-mailed us earlier this week," the mother said through tears. "He asked about my health and said he was so sorry he wasn't here to see his little boy's first steps." Tarlavsky, who graduated from Clifton High School and got his bachelor's degree from Rutgers, "did triathlons and marathons for fun." She said his last marathon was in New York last year. The proud soldier was just three weeks into his second tour in Iraq. He also fought in Afghanistan. Yesterday, U.S. forces announced a halt to their offensive in Najaf against renegade cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and his Mehdi Army. Aides to al-Sadr said he was prepared to disarm his followers if Americans withdraw from the Shiite holy city and his fighters are granted amnesty. The negotiations brought a halt to nine days of clashes, after al-Sadr's aides said he suffered minor shrapnel wounds to the face, chest and shoulder yesterday near the shrine of the Imam Ali Mosque, where many of his militants were hiding. The U.S. military said it suspended offensive operations because of the talks. "We are allowed to engage the enemy only in self-defense and long enough to break contact," said U.S. Maj. Bob Pizzitola. "That was a blanket order for everybody." |
