RE: shockwaves
I have used shockwaves in the past and they fell apart. blades came off tip broke off, ruined some of my arrows the way the blades folded back. They are junk in my experiences.

RE: shockwaves
Why shoot expandables on bear? Your not going to need knock down power. Just use a fixed blade.

RE: shockwaves
I have never had a prblem with the shockwave broadhead. I have been shooting them for 4 years at deer and turkey, and I have always had a good blood trail and quick clean kills. This year I think I am going to try the Scorpion XP's, which is the same broadhead with a cut on impact head. I would say look into them, they will probably offer a little better penetration.

RE: shockwaves
but would this be a good head for black bear this fall??????
|
RE: shockwaves
Yes if you have a well tuned bow and 55 ft/lbs of KE or better they will work very well.

RE: shockwaves
MM.
I have been "told" (since I haven't gone yet, but going in Sept.) that your whitetail setup will work fine. For me, that is a GT arrow and Rocket Sidewinders. |
RE: shockwaves
texasaggie.....did you have the small metal ring around the base of the broadhead. They should not hit the shaft of the arrow when they open up. I have used them for a number of years with flawless performance. I have had pass thru's at 55 yds.

RE: shockwaves
Sure did. I put the metal ring on then as i would shoot the blades would cut through the ring. Once the ring has been damaged by the blades it was forced on the threaded shaft and I couldnt remove it without prying it off. I think if that ring was stronger I would not have the problems that I was having.

RE: shockwaves
I used rocket sidewinders last year with excellent results. I got complete pass thru on a 325lb bear.I think the sidewinders would be just fine. Most of the guys I hunted with used spitfires with good results.
