RE: soybeans or corn?
My turn...
I think you will see more deer in the beans - especially evenings even after the beans are cut down. Young deer and does will bed down in the standing beans also. BUT - If you're after a big boy, I'd hunt the corn - much more security over there. I like the idea of a thin strip of woods and creek running between the 2 - sounds very similar to the patch of private ground I hunt. Pre-rut - expect some heavy rub lines along the trees, especially if there aren't many trees around for some miles!!! In summary: if you're just looking for venison - hunt the beans. If you're looking for a trophy, hunt the rub lines up until after the rut - then hunt the corn provided it is still standing (some around here stands until late november) |
RE: soybeans or corn?
Hunt the wind on both sides and just watch, do some scouting from your stand, thats all i would do. Ya mess around too much and you could get them to live in that corn and only be ran out when the farm comes to cut it,lol.
