Lucky or unlucky? Robinhood arrows

Just shot my third robinhood of my life and I don't know if that is lucky or unlucky. I lost 2 more arrows in the process but they do look cool hanging on the wall. I tried to post a picture but I keep getting a "file is to large" message when I try. Anyway it is in a McEnze deer target otherwise I don't usually shoot at the same spot on targets.

I got my first a couple weeks ago. i just pulled it apart and put the busted up arrow in the gun safe. i'd keep it but i need to buy some more arrows and am getting low. I take it as a mixed blessing, good because i got the arrows in a tiny group and robin hooded but bad because the CX-200's are around 10 bucks a pop.

I've got about 14 or 15 robinhoods hanging on the wall. I had a few more, but they got broken up during a move.:( I'd rather have the trophy than try and save a few measely bucks by salvaging an arrow. All mine are documented: date, distance, what bow I was using.

There are guys who will spend their whole bowhunting career and NEVER get a robin hood. Accept them for what they are and hang onto them so those guys will see that it CAN be done. ;)

They're just happy accidents. :D

If it wasn't for Unibushings I'm not sure I'd have an arrow to shoot.;)

If you are dialed in, shooting groups and have any sort of press fit nock with no bushing on an all carbon arrow you are asking for very expensive decorations.

Obviously a shooter with better skill is going to have more opportunities to shoot Robinhoods, but anyone who constantly shoots groups is going to eventually get one.......I don't call it lucky or unlucky........I call it "bound to happen".:)

Uh-huh:D

The more arrows you shoot in your groups increases the odds of getting one, and the tighter your groups the odds are better. Like Matt said, it's bound to happen!

I've had two near misses so far. The arrows hit the nocks of the other arrows, bust them and the back end, but don't stick into the arrow itself, they brush off and go into the target. Lucky me?

I had one robin hood with my old Bear Black Bear bow, when I bought my new Browning Ambush I immediatly started cutting fletchings off and creased an arrow, I went and bought a 5 bulls eye target, I can't afford to ruin arrows! Like others have said, some of it is luck, but most of it is skill. If you are not shooting tight patterns and get one it is luck, but if you are grouping real tight groups and knocking fletchings off a lot then it is skill. I don't feel lucky when I knock a fletching off, and darn sure don't feel lucky when I ruin an arrow!

I'd have to say in the first few years of shooting it's luck. After that, the skill part of it comes in when you start shooting better and better groups and keep shooting one spot on the target. I agree with Matt. It's bound to happen to sometime. While we were sighting in my very first bow(never shot once before this), I robin hooded an arrow. Skill? I extremely doubt it!! :D I can't afford to do that anymore, so my shooting sequence involves 4 arrows a round....shooting at 4 different target spots. Hopefully it won't happen again. ha, ha

Congrats on another RH. That will be anexpensive habit if you keep it up but it is cheaper than mounting a deer if you're looking for trophies.

Keep up the good shooting an make it count this fall!:)

i never have, but i shoot into a bag of rags and it is pretty hard to do it shooting into rags..im pretty sure i would have if i shot into a stiff target.....because i have broken a lot of nocks.....
